These are Compact Monitor 3s but they're not that compact being a 3 way standmount, just a bit smaller than the classic BBC size. They sound great. I bought them for the Wam show but unfortunately my lift pulled out and I don't have room for them.

Plenty of information on this link including specs, dimensions etc.

https://www.imf-electronics.com/home-of-the-transmission-line-loudspeakers/imf-electronics/speakers-categories/the-compacts/compact-monitor-iii

The mid range foam surrounds were dried out like all pairs are so I replaced them with the correct ones from a well known Dutch supplier.

The cabinets are in good condition for their age with only one small area of damage worth mentioning on the bottom corner of one, see photos. They are very heavy and solid as you'd expect from IMF. They knew how to build speakers then. Well some companies did.

The foam in the slots crumbled as usual and I put some on to cover the slots but they don't let the speaker "breathe" properly so should be removed when using. There is fish filter foam on eBay that works well I just never got round to buying it.

I would like £250 collected from N London, I'm near the M25, A1, A10, A406 etc.

Lawrence, I'll be exhibiting at the Wam show (sharing a room with Mike JacHawk), and if you don't sell them here and there is any possible way you can get them there, I'm happy to use them in my set up instead of my speakers. Might help with the sale, and it'll save me hauling my big buggers across the Pennines :)

The speakers are in London and I'm getting a lift to the show from Durham with my second system. I'll keep the sale open for now until I can firm something up if that's ok.

No worries mate, I'll only need a day or two's notice either way :)I'm not sure yet if I can get them up but I've got some nice little Opera floorstanders that I might be able to bring instead if you want me to look into it?

Thanks Lawrence, but I'm ok for speakers. It was really just to help you out as I'd seen an earlier post from you suggesting such a thing.

Look forward to meeting up there either way, should be a good weekend :)

Were you genuinely interested in using them at the Show as I could make sure we get them in the car from London to Durham the week before the show.

Absolutely genuinely interested! You bring 'em, I'll use 'em :)

I'll be partnering them with a very simple set up - just my Marantz CD6006 and Musical Fidelity A6 integrated.

Oops I wasn't being very clear, when I said "interested in using them" I meant "interested in buying them".

I'd be happy for you to borrow them, but I'm under pressure to get rid of them and that's more likely to happen in London than Durham (mainly cos I'm usually there). So if I do bring them up I have to sell them. Maybe that's what you meant anyway?

Otherwise I do have other speakers I can bring along that are already up there (like the Operas), hence not reducing the likelihood of getting them sold.

No worries Lawrence. To be honest, as the show draws nearer I'm getting a bit nervous about taking my speakers, which are rather big and heavy for a weedy sort like me. But they are relatively unknown and so might be of more interest to folks than my alternatives (Celestion 5s) which every man and his dog will be familiar with.

I'll have an extra Shredded Wheat on the day and see how I feel...

Tell me about these Operas, I'm not familiar with them. Then you can go back to selling the IMFs :) and GLWS

I'm trying to remember the model, I'm sure I posted a photo on here last year. They are the floorstanding version of the Mini and there is a review on t'net if I can remember what they're called.

The CM3 must be a rare IMF model. I'd not heard of them before this listing and thought I was familiar with their products in general. These are certainly interesting, are they a quarter wave line or maybe eighth wave design?

Glad you cleared that up :ner: Yes please Lawrence, I'll use them instead of my own speakers, maybe you can stick a 'for sale' card on them, so people will get to hear them before buying :)

Ok I'll let you know by then if there's an issue but I'm sure it will be fine we're going in an estate.

Cheers Lawrence - I was going to bring my sub (Rel T9i) to run with my Celestion 5s, but with your Operas it won't be necessary. Less boxes to bring!

Do you know if you can sell things out of your room, or is there a dedicated area for this? I have a few 'vintage' bit 'n' bobs I'm thinking of bringing, Mrs. P wants her dining room back :)

26-10-2023, 14:12
Tbh I'm not sure I'm not actively selling anything but if anyone made an offer I would consider it!

I think you should bring a sub they are pretty dinky although tbh they'll probably work better in the hotel rooms than my SD1s

There does seem to be a bring and buy with optional donation to the Wam chosen charity.

Yes I'll do that. But the box for my Rel is otherwise engaged, and I don't want to move it 'naked', so I'll bring my BK off the subs bench.

Spoke to John we'll be fine I'll make sure I bring them. I might have to leave my valve amps but I'll be fine with my class a monoblocs.

Top man Lawrence. I'll pm my mobile number to you. We will be in room 121, but if you text me your number I'll call you when we arrive, so I can come and find you. I can't remember what you look like, though I'm told you resemble George Clooney but with better hair :)

We can't get into the rooms until after 2pm (I'm told), so we only plan to get there about 1.30. Nosebag first, then unloading :)

Failing that I'll make sure I'm wearing my trilby and buttonhole in case. Or I'll see if I can borrow some trousers off Alan Firebottle.
