same here. started in earnest at about 1pm, although there was some very light stuff around 12... still this stuff fills reservoirs and soaks ground much better. top temp was about 14c. might not see 20c here again this year.

Our rain was almost horizontal when I went out for a smoke so I sheltered behind a big gatepost. It had been raining for a while and you could see the dry patch on the concrete next to it like a sort of reverse shadow. Thought I was being right crafty taking advantage of the natural cover.
The wind immediately dropped to nothing and switched the rain to vertical.

The chavs and ignorant oiks don't give a toss about anybody but themselves. They just do what they like! Bring back chain gangs!! (not sure we actually had any in the UK, the Yanks were good at that sort of stuff :))
I think we had them but we based them in Australia.

I can see a patch of blue sky, but it's not over sunny here.
High probability of rain it seems, but it's not fully happened yet - and - oh - here comes the sun!
High of 20C forecast in an hour or so. Sun now retreated.
been wet here, and may be more to come. warmer than its been of late tho..18c

Mrs. P (who loves a good dinosaur) has been on about renting the new Jurassic Park film from Sky Store, but it's 16 bloody quid! Anyway, today looks like good cinema-going weather, so I'll suggest that. Meercat Movies 2 for 1 cinema tickets you see :)

I have a few Scottish mates, so I learned from the best :) As for Yorkies, well, I'm not going to defend the indefensible :sofa:
Anyway, the cinema thing may be moot - Chorley showing is 1.30pm, and she's still in bed!
Oh, and the weather has improved a bit - dried up but grey, 18C. Think I'll sit outside with a posh coffee, when this Sade CD is finished.

Oddly it has turned sunny now, and is quite warm - for these parts - around 21C at least I think. The breeze has picked up considerably, though - and it may be a bit humid making it feel warmer.

Forecast for the bank holiday weekend is dry and sunny so that's obviously wrong.

Things look good so far. Some sun, not too windy - though probably not going to get too hot with a high of around 17-18C - but no rain.
With luck will hold out most of the day. Will put bin out anyway later and see what happens.

Sunny and dry right now. Scheduled high is 18C, but it already feels warmer than that. No significant breeze.
No car boot sales for me, but I'll try to see if the local dump is open and take the bin stuff which didn't go yesterday. Fun eh!

Looking at pictures of clouds. What better way to spend a bank holiday? I suppose it's better than watching "Gabby's Dollhouse", which is on the telly right now :(

Better than sitting in a traffic jam on the M6 trying to go somewhere that will be packed with people and very expensive. Even Gabby's Dollhouse has to be better than that and I can only speculate as to what that's about.
My mother always wanted to 'go somewhere' on August bank holiday. My father would refuse saying 'It's the absolute worst day of the year to go anywhere or do anything.'
One year when he was away working overseas we took the train to the Lake District. Took most of the day to get there, it was heaving with people, like Glastonbury but without the bands or the drugs, and on the journey back the train was packed and we had to stand in the guard's van the whole way home which took another five hours. I think that was the day I first realised my father was quite a wise man.

Good grief, I quite like trains, but that's just wrong...
Went to the Lakes last Saturday: An hour to get there, an hour spent at record fair, an hour having coffee and BLTs outside a cafe, half an hour driving round Bowness taking pictures of Chinese folk*, then home in time for tea. Job done. I wouldn't even consider it this weekend :nono:

Feeling a bit cooler this evening. Mrs. P sat there with a 'throw' over her legs, for the first time since about March. She'd better get used to it - I told her the heating's not going on till January, and she thinks I'm joking.
There will be an upside: her son (The Mollusc) cannot tolerate temperatures above 21C or less than 19C. Which means he slobs around either wrapped in blankets, or sweating in his underwear which is worse. So I'm expecting fewer visits this winter :carrot:

Same here. Went out for a pub lunch yesterday, and the place was very quiet. But that may be because we were the last people to know their food is shite. At least we didn't need the motorway to get back (main route from Lake District), which was getting busy.
9C this morning, can't remember the last time I saw single figures here.

Dog sitting is easy enough, it's dog walking I can't be doing with.
When I used to stay with friends at Ullapool, there was this old lady who was physically unable to walk her dog, and each day we'd see her drive past the pub at 10mph, with her dog running behind.

A pleasant sunny 20C here today. Weather set to be good all week, ending on Saturday with thunderstorms. Which coincides nicely with a camping weekend we will be having at Witton Castle near Bishop Aukland. Which is nice.
