Am I right in saying that is you buy a bit of hi fi using Friends and Family on PayPal then you are effectively relinquishing any guarantees the PayPal normally offers.

As I understand it, friends and family on PayPal is a way of transferring money without incurring costs so technically nothing to do with a purchase :)

Usual on the forums for known members, not on eBay or any other sale website. I've done it a few times off Hifi for sale, Gumtree etc when I've called the seller and had a good chat, never had my fingers burnt.

Yes, I use PayPal F&F for transactions with Forum Members, whom I trust, but will use standard PayPal for purchases from Amazon, eBay etc..

Yep only do this for people you know and trust otherwise it's a no-no.

Charge back is possible on F&F proceed with extreme caution unless the buyer has track record on forum. Pfm is rife with scammers probably other forums too. Onky deal with established long standing and recent posting members

Never had a problem with any AoS and TAS member. I tend to have more issues with family, not friends...
