You're bloody lucky. We have the same thick black cloud and hint of drizzle we have endured for weeks now except for the occasional short spell of sun. It's been fleece weather today.

lol.. one of nicest days for a long time. no wind to speak of, just cool sunshine. we are gonna need rain soon tho as the reservoirs are getting low in places. been a dry summer for our standards

Nice day so far - started off dullish, but is now quite bright and cheerful. Slightly cold. I'm not in a hurry for rain, though the water butts are nearly empty again.
Round here one wet day can fill a water butt!

Beautiful sunny day here today and I’m delighted as one of the neighbours is hosting his son’s wedding in the field opposite us today. Big marquee and all that.
I promised him I’d keep everything crossed for good weather. Various parts of my extremities are seriously lacking in blood flow now, but it clearly worked!

As for the weather here, dullish with patches of brightness threatening to break through. Next week though looks good, with temps on Tuesday predicted to reach 28C!!:eek:

Sunny 17C right now. Set to get warmer, about 21C.
Having a few hours out in the car shortly, we'll find somewhere for a fancy-pants ice cream. Lemon sorbet and rum 'n' raisin for me :) Not keen on these "waffle cones" everywhere seems to be selling these days - you can't break the bottom off to make a 'mini cone'. Anita's quite happy about that though, as she says my mini cones are childish and show her up :)
Turned out to be a scorcher... 26C here! So lunch al fresco beckons:)
Thought I'd retired my sun lounger for the year, but it'll be out in the garden (under a parasol) later!:D

They should bring them back for everyone who is sick of those places with their bullshit menus and all the crazy crap on the walls. The Berni was from a more civilised age.

OK if you liked gammon with pineapple on top. Actually I did quite like the Bernis. Didn't they have crispy onions too?
Weather here been c**p today - rained more than it has for a while, and we are feeling the cold. Supposed to warm up for a few days this week though, so maybe not quite time to give up on the summer. Checked the oil levels yesterday (heating) and was pleasantly surprised to see we've stlll got enough for a while, though I expect it'll start to go down faster when the cold days set in.
What's involved with 'Berni style' then?

Hear, hear - indeed... My parents used to frequent the one in Glasgow regularly. Mum used to enjoy starting her meal with a 'schooner' of Tio Pepe sherry, then it would be onto the Chianti, served in a straw basket!

27 degrees down here and sunny - lovely!
Certainly better than yesterday afternoon when a fellow engineer and I were soak-testing a 3000V PSU at 45kW. The load was provided by a big resistive loadbank and, according to our thermal camera, the elements were around 190degC. As a result, the ambient temperature in the (non air-conditioned!) area we were testing gradually crept up to 36 degrees.
I went home rather damp...
Yup...Del's finishing work early today, so can't wait to come home and get her bikini on!:D

Lol - each to his or her own, but I've always found May a bit 'meh'. March, yes, when the days start getting lighter, that's cool, but for me there's nothing particularly exciting about May, other then summer's still a month away!
I enjoy autumn, as I like the rich colours it brings to the surrounding landscape, and it also signals the beginning of darker/colder nights, which means we can get the wood burner going again, and the house all warm and cosy. Nothing nicer than at night a room lit only by firelight and/or candles, and a log fire roaring away!:)

Of course all that went to cock when we had kids, but the thought was there! :lol:
Actually, it's a toss up for me between May and September - I too like autumn, but September is on the cusp so usually still warm enough to be in shorts and enjoy the colours and crisper mornings. No sign of those yet though, positively baking tonight and still 18c.

Cheers Alex, nice that at least on person agrees :D I think May signals the start of summer, which is nice, but not mad keen on summer itself (uncomfortably warm for me). I like September too as similar temps wise, but spoiled a bit by the insects - Mrs. P having me evict crane flies every evening, also working and eating outside frequently blighted by wasps, which are even worse later this month when they get pissed on the fallen fruit :(
And there's a coincidence - my (first) wedding was 5th May 1984. Didn't work out, that one. Anyway, a dry 19C today, so that's ok.

Still doing all his gardening too, and eats like a horse, lol!:D

Btw, I've never had any food from Subway. It's just never appealed. I don't eat much 'fast food', but have the VERY occasional Big Mac or KFC, but if I'm having that kind of stuff, it's usually Chinese or curries:)

Lol - it's not so much that, it's just that I'm not really a sandwich guy. Sandwiches are generally food for folk 'on the go'/at work (or who want a quick snack), and I'm mostly at home with all the time in the world, so prefer something else, usually a cooked meal. I'd have a salad (on a plate) before I'd have a sandwich.
Plus, I'm fussy about the type of bread I eat, as you may have noticed me mentioning before, so on the rare occasions I have a sandwich, it'd have to be on French stick or some other type of crusty bread. I don't do 'British white (or brown) plain loafs', which is what sandwiches in shops here are usually made from.
Then there are the fillings... I like things like salami or Parma ham (Wiltshire ham on the bone, at the very least), or proper cheese (like a good mature/vintage cheddar or Emmental), not that orange, crumbly tasteless shit, posing as 'cheese', which is normally used. Most other fillings I wouldn't entertain, unless a really good Coronation chicken, or Tuna Mayo (made with good quality tuna and mayo) was available.
I could go on (haha), but you get the picture!:lol:
Oh, and there being a Subway in every town isn't a plus, as I'm rarely in town centres, even Wrexham, lol! These fast-food places are almost always a bollox to get to with a car, unless they have a drive-thru...

It's not the dark or cold in isolation it's the combination of both at the same time, and the length of time it drags on for that pisses me off.

Well it's a terrace so only the front and back walls and the roof can catch any sunlight, and the row of houses is slightly angled NE-SW just perfectly for catching as little direct sunlight as possible. Especially when you take into account the shading effect of the terraced streets that are all around meaning no early morning or late evening direct sunlight either.
Upstairs does get warm on a hot day but of course heat rises, so very little of that filters down to the living room.
At least that's my theory.
