Lovely day here too. Only time I haven’t worn shorts since May is when I’ve been out on my motorbike!

Marco

Are they lilac?:D

Actually, I do have a pair of swim shorts with lilac flowers on them! No lilac curtains in the “new” house though, in fact only the kids rooms have curtains, shutters, Roman blinds or nothing in the other rooms.

Another belter of a day here today. Typical of the 'Indian summers' we have these days. No idea of the temperature but an absolutely clear blue sky without a cloud in sight.

Went out for lunch and then walked back, popping into a couple of charity shops to browse for LPs. Bought four in excellent condition for 50p each. :)

Sadly the weather is going to change tomorrow. :(

Did you go for lunch somewhere nice, Barry?:)

Oh, and was it classical music records you got - if so, which ones?

It was our local pizzeria, nothing special but we have always found the grub there good and wholesome and the service quite satisfactory: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186338-d10494169-Reviews-or10-Franco_Manca_Kilburn-London_England.html
(Re. the bad reviews, I have to admit there is a large turnaround in staff: every time we visit the staff have changed, but we have never had a problem. That said, I would never choose to take people there for an evening meal.)

Apropos the LPs, yes they were all classical music recordings, either of composers I hadn't heard of (Jean-Marie Leclair (1697-1764) on the L'Oiseau Lyre label OL150 (1972)), or by soloist I admire (David Oistrakh playing the Sibelius Violin Concerto in D minor Op. 47, on Angel 35315 (no date: a problem with American pressings).

All were on labels I respect (EMI Parlophone, French Musidisc and the above mentioned L'Oiseau Lyre and Angel). The sleeves were in excellent condition (which is often a good sign the owner has looked after the LP), and on scrupulous inspection the discs themselves were free of any scratches, blisters or warp. They just need a clean.

Ah, good stuff, Bazza. As long as you like the food and enjoy the overall experience, that's all that matters. However, I do find the cold and impersonal nature of London bars and eateries rather unappealing. You're certainly not selling it to me by how you describe the staff, and the other day when you mentioned that it was getting harder to find draught beer, simply because of the sheer laziness of the management!

In that respect, it's a different world up here. That little pub we went to last year, just outside of Wrexham is one of many where a warm welcome, convivial atmosphere and great (draught) beer and food are always available!;)

Nice one on the records. I also like being introduced to new (to me) composers. Jean-Marie Leclair would be one of such, and I particularly rate the quality of the recordings on the L'Oiseau Lyre label.

If you want to find out dates, not marked anywhere on records or sleeves, simply go to the Discogs website, and in the search box type in the record catalogue number, usually found on the top R/H corner of the sleeve, and it'll give you the necessary info, including an approximate resale value!:)

No, just the usual Sunday evening Chinese. That's probably the culprit.

I was just about to say it's brightened up here, but no it's started raining again, and it's the type that bounces off the pavement.

Marco

Ha - not that's definitely Del. She's the pink princess (her pinny has a cute kitten on it, too), although she doesn't 'mince'; she chassés rather elegantly across the kitchen floor, in whatever little skirt she's wearing that day, delivering me my din-dins:eyebrows:

Talk about variety :)

Drizzle start, then strong winds followed by torrential rain (with high wind, so I had to close upstairs dormer windows - rain coming in on the horizontal) and now blue skies with a few white "fluffy" clouds - still quite windy though.

Bizarre day here too. Warm and sunny with beautiful blue skies here now but we had properly torrential wind and rain first thing. So much so, in fact, that two branches came down from one of our trees and blocked the drive to the side of our house. I got bloody soaked clearing them!

I also had to stop twice and clear broken branches off the driveway on my way down to the main road.

Don't you have a man who attends to that sort of thing? Or is he too busy with the drainage in the lower field?

He had to let him go, due to cost cutting. But why could he not have got Jeeves to clear the branches when he brought the car round to the front? Maybe it's Jeeves' day off.

Anyway, I've currently to judge a couple of new bikinis she's bought, in advance of her going for a wax tomorrow at a local salon, as Soph and Robyn have organised a girly weekend away at log cabin with a hot-tub, and of course she doesn't want to be a hairy wee princess:eek::D

Lol... She's going to the salon after work and thinks it's just for a wax, but I've phoned up and paid for the 'full treatment' afterwards, as waxing isn't a particularly pleasant experience (so she tells me, lol), so she'll be getting pampered with a full-body massage (Indian head massage, too), manicure and pedicure, so that'll be a nice surprise, then afterwards I'm taking her out for dinner.

She's still suffering from some of the effects of 'Long Covid', and been really tired after work recently mate, although she's getting better, so I thought she deserved a wee treat. See, I can be just as big a sook as you!:D
