Getting cloudy now and temperature has dropped half a degree. :)
Wind is getting up a bit too.
yes it had actually - from 12c to 17c in between the two trips out. :ner:
I like to take my jacket because it has all my stuff in it and it actually looked like it was going to rain again when I stepped out of the house.
Lol - no worries... I like to travel light, which for me is easy, as I don't smoke, wear glasses (or sunglasses) or carry smartphones around - just my car keys, which go straight into Del's handbag!:D
If you see me with a jacket on, it's either freezing cold (and I mean FREEZING) or pissing down with rain, either of which my car would normally provide shelter against.

Been staying in London since Saturday. Very hot in the day but better in the evening. Eat dinner al fresco on the terrace, and then later (around 10:30 PM) we went out for a walk ending up in a pub for drinks: Peroni Nastro Azzurro for me, and a Martini for her.
The house is relatively cool as we keep the curtains closed, and have a fan running when we sleep.
Suffered a sense of purgatory today - spending over three hours in Ikea having to wear a mask. Nearly had a panic attack as we negotiated the labyrinthine route to the checkout! And then had to be tolerant of a new starter (today) cashier who was being shown the ropes.

It worked out we needed a soft mattress from analysing our pressure points but then none of the recommended beds felt anything like the 'sleeppros' recommended setting?

When Del and I go there, we select what we want from their website in advance, check it's in stock before we go, and *specifically target only those items*. No wandering around aimlessly, lol.. We also only go to stores at off-peak times and days when they're liable to be quiet.
When we arrive, we locate the items we're looking for in the store and use the ticket information (plus pencils and paper provided) to jot down where they're held in the warehouse. Then go to the warehouse, collect them and take them to the tills. That process normally takes no more than an hour or so, then it's offski home and job done!:cool:

Good advice, but I (and especially Del) care greatly about how comfortable the bed (and specifically mattress) is we sleep in, and indeed the quality of the pillows (how well they support your head and neck) and also the sheets/linen used (essential for a comfortable sleep), which is why we've spent a considerable amount of dosh on all of that:)
So yes "fussy" we are!;)

She tends to know what she WANTS [when she wants something, she WANTS it, tout suite] and where to get it - then gets it and I pay for it! It's a fairly seamless and relatively fast process:D

Yeah, I know what you mean and such adventures can be both entertaining and fun. However, I've been too used to my creature comforts, lol!
In terms of the bit in bold, me too, and especially Del, who won't settle for anything less than Egyptian cotton. Towels also need to be soft and thick and wash well, plus retain their colour and shape over time with multiple washes.
Nothing worse than the opposite!:)

Yup, the Pashley Princess is very well made, from a traditional 'old school' manufacturer, with the quality and attention to detail simply fabulous, beautifully burnished real-leather saddle, etc.. Not cheap though, I think at the time it cost around £700.
She spied a lady riding one in a local village and said 'I WANT one of those!', so I thought it'd be rude not to oblige - and besides I wouldn't have heard the end of it until she got one!:doh::D

I think bicycles are a brilliant way to get about. I used to do a couple of thousand miles a year just commuting. :)
Indeed so, Del loves it. A big selling point for her bike was the basket at the front [very French, lol], as she can pop to the shops, just down the road to get odds and ends that we need, which saves getting the car out, and she enjoys the exercise.
The roads are pretty quiet round here too, so I don't need to worry about her too much, although that hasn't stopped her from falling off it a few times, as the pedals got caught up in her dresses!:doh:
Therefore, I had to convince her that although she looks cute cycling along in floaty floral dresses and strappy sandals, it's not exactly practical, so now after some [ahem] 'gentle persuasion', she wears leggings and trainers!

Yes, the secret is to draw the curtains (or draw/lower the blinds) to reduce the direct solar radiation.

Mrs P had a brief stay in hospital with pneumonia, and was only allowed to go home on the condition that she does absolutely NOTHING. Normally she would make my sandwiches for work the day before, but this week I've had to do it myself. So Tuesday was chippy, Wedensday Subway, Thursday chippy again, and today I went home early :)
Anyway, not being able to do anything is driving her mad, so tomorrow I'm going to sit her on a swivel chair in the middle of the lawn with the hosepipe. The last thing she needs is the rain coming along and doing her out of a job :(

It can indeed be very serious. Luckily I think it was dealt with pretty quickly, she was chucked in an ambulance and blue lighted to Royal Preston Hosp. She's bought this thing off Amazon that vaporises saline, and it seems to do a good job with airways.
She seems to be on the mend, thanks for asking.

Sun's out here, and I don't think watering a lawn in strong sunshine is a good thing. But Mrs. P isn't letting that stop her. If it helps her feel useful, scorched grass is a small price to pay. The forecast rain for tomorrow is just light rain for a couple of hours in the morning. But that's the BBC Weather app, and they are usually wrong.

Returned to the frozen wastes. Dull today so far and I think it rained a bit overnight - a dampish look to the ground - which at least should be good for the garden and fill the water butts.
Some nice sunny days recently spent in England and the more southerly parts of Scotland.

Been a warm, but unspectacular day. 25C, but cloudy and feels humid.
reached 16c here... its threatening a little rain but dont know if it will or not. bright but cloudy
23 - 24C here. Nice in the sunshine but a bit chilly when the sun was obscured by a cloud. Became increasingly overcast as the day wore on, with light rain forcast, which hasn't as yet materialised.
Eat lunch al fresco - cheese and pickle sandwich and a bottle of beer. :)

Early rain here. Now the Sun has made a welcome appearance and it's a very pleasant 20c. Perfect for a snooze this afternoon.
Basically had all four seasons in one day here. Lovely and warm in the sunshine, cold when the sun is obscured by a cloud. Gradually became overcast and now it's raining. :doh:
not much cop here either, overcast and a bit chilly.

Set to be warmer and sunny tomorrow, so I plan to play out on the bike, and make a couple of car boots my destinations (by which I mean sales, not rear end collisions :nono:) I'll be a bit miffed if I find any good vinyl, the Pony Express only has space for CDs under the seat :(
Sunny here this morning despite forecast being for rain. I have to go out later on though so it's probably saving itself for then.
After a pretty dull, drizzly day yesterday, it's business as usual... Bright and sunny, if not exceptionally warm at 14C:)

12c right now but supposed to get up to 20c later. Going to be warmer here than in Wrexham!
Tomorrow looks good too (not for Wrexham mind) but Monday is rain.

Just took a screenshot of the flooding picture. It takes me back a bit, those barriers are the old PSB 30 type (pedestrian safety barrier). Surprised any still exist in a public environment, they have been obsolete for about forty years. I used to get them installed, still have a couple of old ones in my garden.

Solution to your friendly fellow walkers problem is simple: hold your phone to your ear as they approach, or if you can't be arsed go out wearing the biggest fuck-off headphones you own. You don't need actual music playing, though Napalm Death at high volume would certainly help.

17C and gloomy. It feels like we may get rain

Not much going on here, overcast but mild. Sun supposed to come out by evening.
Nothing exciting in the forecast either, max temp 20c all week, no heatwaves or thunderstorms.

Still nice enough (and dry) today to light the BBQ and chargrill my lamb cutlets for lunch - or rather instruct the princess to do so!:D

Dozens of people have died in Canada amid an unprecedented heatwave that has smashed temperature records.
Police in the Vancouver area have responded to more than 130 sudden deaths since Friday. Most were elderly or had underlying health conditions, with heat often a contributing factor.
Canada broke its temperature record for a third straight day on Tuesday - 49.6C (121.3F) in Lytton, British Columbia.
The US north-west has also seen record highs - and a number of fatalities.
Experts say climate change is expected to increase the frequency of extreme weather events, such as heatwaves. However, linking any single event to global warming is complicated.
