Well the only reasons I can see for needing to know the time is scheduled TV and radio programmes, and work. If you don't watch live TV and don't have to work, then time can be whatever you want it to be :)

And making sure you get to the off-licence before it shuts. That's probably the only indispensable thing that time does.

As long as you get there while it's still light you should be ok.

yes you could work around it I suppose, must be what they did before time was invented.

See what you mean - Baccara, Rod Stewart, David Soul, Leo Sayer and Brotherhood of Man all had number ones in 1977. And Mull of Kintyre did quite well too :)

I blame the pub landlords, they invented the word - everything was ok till they started shouting it to get folk to piss off home :(

Lol - perish the thought that alcohol would ever be *that* important!;)

Besides, we're back to the old thing again about keeping stocks in of food and drink, and not allowing it to run down to zero. I've got more booze in here, at any given time, than some small pubs! But it doesn't mean I'm inclined to always drink it...

It's simply there when I want to enjoy it in moderation.

did you have your sense of humour bypass on the NHS or did you go private?

Marco
29-05-2021, 21:49
Ha - very good!

The point is, you weren't joking about getting to the off-licence before it shuts, because you're run out of booze, or the local shop because you're run out of food, as that's how you've said you live, and it wouldn't be necessary if you maintained ample stocks of such at home, at all times, like I do!:ner:;)

Perish the thought of having alcohol on premises [emoji23]
Well maybe some medicinal stuff but that's all. [emoji6]

Yes, there's a rumour going around that you might have a couple of bottles of whisky lying around - could you verify that?

I hardly ever drink these days though. If I do it's one can. And it's usually a spur of the moment decision.

If I buy loads of food in I sometimes don't fancy it, it goes past the use-by date and I end up chucking it out. Waste of money. I don't know what I might fancy for my tea until it gets to tea-time and it's often not the thing that I've bought in.

You have to develop a system that works for you.

Of course, and I'm really just taking the piss, mostly because you and I are at opposite ends of the 'organised scale'!:D

I know exactly what you mean though about fancying stuff, although I have someone else here who could put anyone to shame with her spur-of-the-moment 'notions'...

'WANT chips, NOW!!!'

'But it's 10 o'clock at night, sweetheart'. 'That's your problem, JUST GET me them!!'

 Right-o...:door: :hotrod:

You need to get a chip pan - problem solved.

Planning is a weird thing. You've got two military maxims completely at odds with each other;

'Fail to plan, plan to fail'

'No plan survives first contact with the enemy.'

so I generally like to just wing it and hope everything works out, which it usually does. It's the English way.

Possibly.. But only if she LIKED the results compared with those from the chippy. If not, it would be 'DON'T LIKE those - GET ME some PROPER chips!!'

And the foodi would end up in the bin..:D

Why not set up your own chippy at home? Convert the garage, it's only being used to store crap isn't it? Then you could have a constant supply of chips without needing to leave the house. You could even make a bit of money too, that pub at the bottom of your garden looks like the kind of place that would give you a steady stream of customers.

Have a word with your dad, I'm sure he'd be happy to advise :)

Marco
30-05-2021, 11:35
Lol... Had enough of that when I was growing up! Why do you think I didn't take over the business when my dad retired?

Not my thang, dude....

I know you're taking the piss, but in the unlikely event otherwise, although I could make the chippy into massive money-spinner, we don't need the grief, with a load of drunken chavs rocking up to our door. The idea is to make life *easier* now, not more difficult!;)

Besides, the princess has already decided that she WANTS the garage turned into a dining room, to entertain friends, which is much more practical, although it *won't* be fluffy and pink!:nono:

And if we feel like earning a little pocket money, it could double as a 'gorilla kitchen', where we could serve authentic Italian food to small groups of people, like a little restaurant, say 2 days a week at specified pre-booked times (advertised on a website). Now *that* would appeal, and with Del's cooking skills, and my inimitable charm as 'front of house' lol, and 'extensive cellar', we'd defo be onto a winner!

Haha - sounds about right! However, I'm painting the wrong image here - she's not a chip fanatic, otherwise she wouldn't have the figure she has. Granty, does Del look like she lives on chips, lol?

She just has a 'thing' sometimes for chips, chocolate or ice-cream, and when she wants some, she WANTS some - NOW!!:D

I've been out in the car with her, and she just suddenly 'announces' that she WANTS chips, we could be anywhere, and so it becomes my task to get them. She always says it in a playful way though, smiling, never nasty. I just laugh because it's kinda cute:)

Nice to open the conservatory door and feel no appreciable difference in temperature from the inside, lovely!

The Bank holiday motorists are out in droves - but who can blame them? It's not often we get decent weather for any Bank holiday.

Macca

Mt father always refused to go out on a summer Bank Holiday because of the traffic. 'Worst day of the year to go anywhere.' Which is true.

Marco
01-06-2021, 13:37
Sensible man! Complete waste of time if you want to go to any of the most popular spots, unless you live very nearby, or leave home to get there at silly o'clock in the morning, in order to avoid the traffic...

Otherwise you'll spend more time stuck in jams there and back [with kids in the back squealing that they're BORED], not to mention AGES trying to find a car parking space, if you're going to any seaside resorts - then when you eventually find one and get to the beach, have about a couple of hours, max, mixing with crowds of the 'great unwashed', not long before it's time to leave!!:rolleyes:

Stressful? VERY! Relaxing day out? You're joking, right??:D:mental:

Me? I'll ne lying back on the lounger, in a shaded area of the garden under a parasol, drinking a cold one, totally relaxed and chilled, thinking about all the loons on the 'Bank Holiday Monday Run'!:barrel:
