Hahaha... Hey, I *just* remember those dudes releasing stuff on MFP; ideally someone 5 or 6 years older would be more 'in the zone' :eyebrows:

Not exactly my favourite song from early childhood, but one that's stuck in my memory.

I never saw a TV until I was 4 years old because we'd been living in remote places overseas. When we came back to UK the first programme I saw was Top of the Pops and the first song was 'Sugar Sugar' by The Archies.

There was a cartoon that they showed on TOTP's:

We had the radio on a lot in the house, my dad was into all sorts of music and Top of the Pops was a family listen on a Sunday afternoon while he taped it.

Theme music from TV shows that I loved as a child and still do.... UFO, Space 1999, Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Captain Scarlet, Star Trek, Pag pus, Ivor the Engine, Mr Ben, DR Who...etc, etc, etc........ My fave of all of those is UFO.

believe it or not, my first memory of music is this:
EEWgIzm7F2U
probably not exactly the same version, although it does sound very similar.
From the 'Thin White Duke' bootleg, I was about 3.
apparently I was very fond of Bowie as a child (still am!) and once fiddled with the volume control, turned it up far too loud and flew across the room

The Toothbrush Song, The Laughing Policeman and My Old Man's a Dustman, as played by Uncle Mac on Children's Favourites on the Light Program on Saturday Mornings.

Does that make you feel better, Dave?

It makes me feel better! That and Burl Ives (?) doing the 'Runaway Train' and somebody else doing 'Nellie the Elephant'.

God, I've just remembered this from my childhood. Undoubtedly this is all but unknown in the UK but trust me guys this was a huge, huge, huge hit in South Africa in the '60's. Apparently, it was a bigger seller there than any of Elvis Presley's singles.

I still have the 45rpm disc upstairs, it's got a whacking great crack in it & I won't let my Koetsu near it, but I still give it a play every decade or so!!
