Here's our current setup. Couldn't really get more simple: a Marantz CD63 MkII, an Audiolab 8000C, feeding a restored Leak Stereo 20 (completely un-modified circuit, just all new components, work done by myself). The Leak is using entirely JJ valves.

The speakers are the most interesting part of the system and are RFC Raptors by Paul. These are excellent sounding speakers and genuinely sound like 3-ways, probably down to the very high quality drive units used. The larger than average cabinets used for an 8-inch midbass unit allow for very surprising bass extension.

They are a benign load and the Stereo 20 has no trouble driving them whatsoever, they really will work with as little as 10W. The whole system has an extremely non-fatiguing sound with very good bass extension, it sounds like a far "bigger" system than you might imagine.

The only reason for not using a Radford is simply because I currently don't have one for myself ;)

Very nice speakers from AOS member. Looked at the RFC site and I am impressed. Is the ironing board being used as a bass trap?

No, it was found to make the sound a bit flat ;)

For those interested you can find out more about Paul's great speakers here: http://www.referencefidelitycomponents.co.uk/loudspeakers/reference-raptor-loudspeakers/

I remember the old Marantz cd63 I had the Ki version. Not bad CD player really. Can really be modded, I'm surprised you've not had a tinker will!

Someday I'd like to own a Leak 20 again. Is your one using PIO caps?

Nice big stands under the Raptors. Remember reading Pauls threads on them; supposedly very good, although didnt realise they were so easy to drive as that.
