Is everyone okay in the awful floods up north ?

I'm about 20 - 30 minutes from Kendal, who've got it fairly bad I think.
I'm also fairly close to a flood zone, but we're OK so far. The river looked 'interesting' the other night!
Just a few miles south of me, they've got the flood barriers working & the flood plain is apparently a bit moist!

You've got to feel for those poor folks who caught it, though.

i know a lot of older houses have become more vulnerable in recent times with the changing of weather etc but i do think it is apaling how concils are alowing new builds on flood plains!
i dont know if anyone remembers the huge floods in gloucester/tueksbury a couple of years back?as far as i can work out most of that was caused by improved flood defences up stream and lack of flood defence in gloucestershire... how bloody daft?!?!
