Okay, so Detroit has been taking it on the chin lately, and I've been through more than my fair share of lay-offs and RIFs (Reductions in Force), but through it all, the one thing I've always been able to do is take solace in my audio system. If you have a collection of good music and a system to play it on, you can make it through anything.

I tend to the objectivist side of the spectrum, but also recognize that, in the Gestalt of the musical experience, the sum of the parts does not equal the whole. I reserve the right, as all humans should, to utter contradictory statements.

Yes been there too, still am. I used to manage a specialist audio store until the owners mistakes in the area of home automation caught up with him and then me. He trades on (on the back of what I did, when I ran the hi-fi side of things and won back the 2 channel enthusiasts who fled when he went home cinema and custom install), but me and another member of staff were thrown to the wolves.

Its over a year for me now, being out of work, and I still can't find a job. If I sound a bit bitter then yes sorry but I am, and I am having one of those days.

Anyway AOS has been a haven for me, has given me self worth again and is populated by some of the kindest most helpful people I have never actual met in the flesh....yep the friendships I have here are all virtual, though I have met one other AOS member in the flesh and spoken to some on the phone. However despite that they are fabulous people and very special and I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I have so far.

Anyway you are very welcome here, hope I haven't put you off, but I thought you should know that there are those here who can understand where you are at.

What system do you take sanctuary in and what sort of music are you into?

Here on AOS we like to use first names...whats yours ? We feel it makes AOS a more friendly forum.

Welcome to AoS. I second everything Neil says, and have been layed off twice myself but now retired. It helps the friendlyness if you'd advise your first name, and many of us like to see pics of your set up posted in the Gallery area, if possible.
Any questions, please ask - many people on here have opinions to offer on many subjects, some of which are even based on experience and knowledge of the subject :lolsign: , so ask away.
Friendly banter is also encouraged.
