Hello everyone, I'm new here.

Since I have to talk about my me, my fav. Subject, here it is!

My Main Stereo is

Ortofon Cadezana Blue, which is getting on a bit, I'm watching the 'Once you go Black You won't Go back' thread with interest.
Orginlive Enterprise Arm 9"
Garrard 401 Turntable on a Aphelion (Sp?) plinth. And a Ringmat, eerr. mat.
Mitchell Iso +Hera Phono Stage.

Amplification is Quad 66 into a heavily modified Quad 303 into a pair of early 70s Quad electrostatics on Classique Sounds stands and Townshend supertweeters. I did have a pair of Quad IIs and I've tried other amplifiers, but there's something just right about the Quad 303/ESL combination. The Speaker cable is Russ Andrews XL Monocle-XL, which cost more second hand than the Quad 303.

Radio is Quad 66, which is alright, not as good as a Leak Troughline but not as fiddly. Cd is a Quad 67.

I find CD perfectly adequate, you know, for spoken word material, or at a push, light background music. :eyebrows:

Oh, and a Stax 404/SRM-006t which I'm ashamed to say I hardly ever use. And it on a hi-fi Rack, err hifi rack.

Music, ooh, where to start, I'm still missing John Peel, lets put it that way. Not much Classical, although I can tolerate Weber and Bartok. And (most) Jazz brings me out with a case of the screaming heeb-gees.

I've got too many records.

Oh, a photo?

Bonus marks if you can tell me what the picture disc is? It's not very typically 'Audiophile'

Bonus Audio recording on the above, pre and post a go on a Moth Record cleaning machine

Hello Stephen. Welcome to AOS.

Well that's a comprehensive intro. You haven't left me anything to ask you really. :)

Not sure about your view of CD. I really like mine, it sounds just fine even against the vinyl.

Nice selection of Hi-Fi you have. I've used many of the same items in the past.

We have a Gallery section if you'd like to post more photos. They'd be appreciated.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Welcome to AoS Stephen,

Good introduction, though I'm surprised you can listen to Bartok and Webern, yet jazz brings you out "with a case of the screeming heebie jeebies"?

Nice system you have, enjoy the Forum

Regards
Barry (a fellow Quad lover)

Hello from downunder. Agree on the Jazz - Last time I heard Diana Krall I ran to the window to throw myself out, but alas I was on the ground floor.

Oh you mean Carl Maria von Weber - sorry my mistake. The mention of Bartok caused me to misread Weber for Webern.

:uhho:

Well, there is that I suppose.

While I'm here, have a picture of my little second system:-

To be honest it's more the stuff I upgraded from and couldn't bear re-selling. And it's a bit ad hoc, so I know the speaker are too close together etc.

Shure V-15 VxMR (original one), Thorens 160 Mk2 B Mission 774 arm, Marantz 62 CD player I got new in 199something*, Quad 34/306/FM4. Linn Kan speakers. Cable was Russ Andrews Crystal 24, I think.

The record being played is Simply the Truth by John Lee Hooker, or possibly Hey, Good Lookin' by Bo Diddley, They both turned up yesterday so I was listening to them that night. Can't really see with the cover down!

* almost forgot, the remote control still has the original, working batteries in it!

space or lack of never allowed me to have a second system the 2nd system you have is nice but the Garrard / Quad is beautiful and I am sure even Cyrus the tweaking Virus sounds great on it
