Silvio Berlusconi used to make me laugh. Smug, face lifted little git, with fake tan, fake teeth and fake hair,
I know, same here. Simon Cowell is another. Old guys trying desperately hard to hold onto their (very) last remnants of yoof, but in the process just making themselves look even older.
The worst are the Botox'd to buggery celebs. Some look a right mess, almost as if they've 'melted'.... Scary! :eek:

My advice? Be happy with what God gave you and take a little pride in your appearance. Folk who qualify for neither, tend to have low self-esteem, and that creates a whole world of other problems.

Can't agree about pride in appearance. High self esteem would tend to make me care less rather than more. Why should how I look make any difference. I know I'm wunnerful so sodem:lol:
Lol.... When I say 'pride in appearance', I'm not talking about poncing around like a poofter; merely, being clean and tidy, not taking ridiculous steps to try and hold back the 'sands of time', and wearing clothes that don't make you look like Coco The Clown or mutton dressed as lamb!
For me, that's just normal :)

I reckon I look like Coco the clown naturally, what can I do? The sands of time are a bit heavier than I am so I don't bother trying to fight them you'll be pleased to know.

Ok, back to sun beds and those who seek to look like barbecued Red Indians... Why are 'tanning salons' (along with betting shops, pound shops and off-licences, selling cheap booze), mainly the domain of chavs? :scratch:
IME, it's mostly chav women who like to walk about 'bronzed up to the max', whereas anyone with breeding, and a bit of class, tends to prefer the natural look. I think there must be something in that...

Anyway, Mrs H has suggested that I get aircon fitted. The plumber has been this morning. :cool:
Taken the measurements etc. and is sorting out the quote as we speak.
This could be the best HiFi upgrade for summer - ever!
While he is installing the aircon, we air also adding a PCB to the heat pump for the heated floor, enabling us to run it in reverse and cool the house down even more.
Happy days. :yay:
Dunno about templates, but what's with this thing young blokes have at the moment. Short back and sides, too thick on top and greased up with thick beards and shirts and trousers two sizes too small. It's not a good look.
A sure sign of getting old; finding young people's appearance annoying. From the young person's point of view, the fact that you dislike their appearance is half the battle. Imagine, if at age 19 or so, some old codger was congratulating you on your choice of clothes and haircut!

If it gets any hotter, we might. House has peaked at 25 degrees downstairs.
Upstairs is a more sweltering 29 to 30.
I would like to listen listen to music during the day, and not just late evening.
The heat pump to cool the floor is for a back up in case it gets too warm for the littl'un. ;)

The snow became heavy there, but has, for now, stopped and some sun appeared.

Its cleared up again mate. No chance of it lying unless its on heavy for a number of hours... Ground is pretty wet. Think it will be blustery showers for now.

You're kidding - it has been raining here for weeks without a break. No matter, a two week dry spell will soon see talk of water rationing.
Been raining here for weeks too tbh. Been windy too for some time but its getting worse not better lol... Fortunately Scotland has good catchments for gathering the precious stuff and it wont just escape like down south. Surprised England has not really made more efforts with water catchments but the topography is perhaps against you in much of the country. It is an expensive thing to move though requiring a huge amount of energy. My area is volcanic high up but lower areas have a lot of clay so it drains very slowly and surface water becomes a problem... I guess yours is similar
Yep loads of clay around here. Some massive clay pits too. I'm quite near the Trent but it is a tiny little thing here in a deep cut so flooding not really much of a risk. It does generate a lot of mist on some mornings, though.
We don't have enough reservoirs in England but no-one wants to flood some lovely valley to create another one, which is understandable.
Yes its an old story alas.. We want its benefits but on someone elses doorstep. ;)

Been stormy all night and again today.. Blowing a gale and torrential rain at times.. Its 7oC outside yet windchill takes it down to -3...trees down everywhere again...

I've just had to go across the road to the hub and its like a spring day here. A bit windy but sun shining and a rainbow.
Another night of storms a!d snow this time. Just cleared a path to car and got it free from the icy grip...one side was very compacted and the other fluffy lol.. Cold with strong winds still...im nurled to the bone now

Re my flu jab....I turned it down as I'd read an article that it could actually be a cause of Alzheimer's , and as I saw my mum taken away by that, I did t want to chance it, mind you, the way I'm feeling now, I'm rather wishing I'd have had it.
As for medication, I've so far downed 3 boxes of so called max strength cold and flu remedies, and copious amounts of whisky and cognac.

What you need is freshly squeezed orange juice with a copious amount of vodka. Must be freshly squeezed though!

The box is best but twice the price or more.. You get either at amazon. . Prime tv stick.. I got it cheap when it came out as i had box..they work well and the box version has a verbal search that actually works. It gives great hd pics on tv as long as your broadband can handle it and the program is in hd. Quite a lot of free stuff actually thats decent to great. Some of the amazon series are very good indeed

I've only seen her speak once but she was quite impressive for a kid.
Thing is, I know how much I didn't know at her age and she almost certainly knows less - so in terms of suitability for the role I really have my doubts.
Mind you, most of the older ones are complete idiots, so maybe it doesn't matter?

When I was up at yours a few weeks ago I couldn't believe how icy cold it was (especially the wind-chill factor) compared with down here (where it's sunny now, but cold)... The difference in temperature from Scotland, to even North Wales, is rather marked.

Had to laugh on Sunday night, landed at Manchester, loads of people in shorts and t-shirts running screaming across the apron from the plane to the terminal it was so cold.
Lol... Well that's the daft Brits for you! Did they not think it was going to be a damn sight colder in Manchester, than Rome, and to dress accordingly for when they got off the plane!! :doh: :mental: :D

Of course I still had the horrors of the passport recognition machines to come...whoever had the idea of installing those things needs taking out the back and shooting - ideally in the face and after being allowed to beg pitifully for his life for half an hour or so first.
Lol... All the idiots needed to do was Google for the local weather at Manchester and think: 'Mmm... Am I going to be warm enough in this Hawaiian shirt, Bermuda shorts and flip-flops?' Nuttaz!

The passport machines are some idiot MBAs wet dream - let's get rid of staff by installing machines that check the passport with face-recognition software. The big problem is that a lot of people are too stupid to use them so you need people standing there to show them how and if it still doesn't work another desk of people to check them the old fashioned way - result - massive queues.
Not sure if they have them anywhere other than Manchester though.

It was snowing when I walked the pooch earlier and we had another longish flurry later. Temperature has been around 9C all day.
Interesting how it's happening north and south of us at the moment. It might hit us too, but today was largely quite pleasant here. Fairly warm in the sun, but out with of that, rather cold.
Snow we could be doing without, much as I love it at the RIGHT time of year... Roll on the bloody summer!! :exactly:

Indeed it does. I didn't realise just how much until I moved here from Glasgow. We're also nicely sheltered in Wrexham by some pretty big mountains, which is why we often miss the worst of the bad weather folks get elsewhere :)

Settling in nicely, found an apartment yesterday in a great central position which is brand new and all the furniture still has the plastic wrapping on, 3 beds 2 bathrooms and a nice balcony with 24 hour security in the lobby. Got a gym around the corner, cinema, shops and restaurants. 29th floor too, so up away from any street noise, really modern and very, very clean, perfect for Capt. Tidy and it really will be Tim's tower's up there!
6.40am here, just the right time for a walk, so I'm off out for some exercise after a rather large Teppenyaki last night and a little too much red wine :)

Will do, I have to say something's here are frustrating, but I only found the apartment yesterday, went to see the owner again today with a big bag of cash, said I wanted air con fitted in every room, she agreed so all new units going in, signed the lease for 12 months got new electronic key cards from the management office and checked the inventory. Took about 2 hours via a translator and four people in the estate agent office, with lots of green tea and hand shakes. I have no idea what I was signing or what they were saying as the entire process was in Mandarin, so I have to trust my translator.
Now bear in mind it's Sunday today and tomorrow is a national holiday (Labor Day), I just got a message that the owner has contacted the air conditioning engineer's today and they have agreed to install it tomorrow and I have a meeting scheduled Tuesday lunchtime to check everything over and if I'm happy, I can move in!
Whatever you might think about the Chinese, they don't mess about and get on with it.
I'll get pics up when I'm in, which will be later than Tuesday, as I have a busy week ahead. Got some speakers delivered last week direct from the Monitor Audio factory, which is a couple of miles down the road, just need to work out the rest of my system and I have my entire music collection on a 2TB 2.5" HDD, so I'm nearly sorted :)
