Hello from (too) close to Stansted

I've been looking through the letter box for some months and it's time I came in. This forum is my first port of call these days. Nobody I know has any interest in our preoccupation so without it.....! My system for many years was Linn based. It was never any good for classical and cd was very uninvolving. When I built my World Design valve amps everything got better. I use Kef 203 f/standers. The titanium tweeters can be a bit much and the valves don't move the bass like ss, but they're quite revealing. I plugged my old LP12 into my newly built WD phonostage and it sounds horrible, but that's for another thread.

You have a great dealer for a couple of the best and decent non-Technics turntables just up the M11 and three miles south from Saffron Walden (He should also have an SL110 for you to look at by now.....). he loves valves-n-vinyl-n-Tannoys/Harbeths so should you pass his way, give him a shout and treat yourself to some good tunes......

Hi Bodger, and welcome to the forum! Ignore Chris's squirrel jokes, he spends far too much time up trees for it to be healthy! It'll certainly be interesting to read your thoughts on the journey you've been on from Linn to ... where? :) Certainly sounds like the subject for a good thread!

I actually live about 3 miles south of Saffron Walden! Are we talking about Radlett Audio here? I am aware of his proximity and he is on my list for t/t dealers. I will start another thread but will mention that I'm visiting the Avid open day on Wednesday in Huntingdon for a 5 hour tour and listening session. If there's interest I could tell you how it goes.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll formulate a piece. Looking back at your mistakes and naievity can be embarrassing but there's always something learnt hopefully at not too great an expense.

I love the way throughout your life pieces of music come and go but a number of them stay and you listen to them forever. Led Zep, Yes, Steely Dan, John Martyn and Joni Mitchell are perenials but I'm more of a folky these days: Chris Wood, Eddi Reader, Spiers and Boden. Miles Davis I can now enjoy too. I do like clean and quite sparse arrangements with lots of air.
