Adobe Flash Player, can't access download site!

I've been trying to update the Adobe Flash Player on my PC, but when I visit the Adobe site and try to go onto their download page it just goes blank and flashes from black to white continually. Anybody got a clue what's going on?

I've set my browser to allow plug-ins and I've turned my ad-blocker off, so I can't see what could be interfering with access.

Sorted now. It was a browser issue of some sort. Tried a different browser and downloaded without problems, apart from the bloody Adobe site adding Google Toolbar and Google Chrome to the download package with no opt out, so I immediately had to uninstall these. Cheek!

Flash is, for me, up and down like a bride's nightie at the moment. Refuses to work on firefox and causes all kinds of issues...fine on Chrome. Been like this for a month or so and i'm on the verge of sacking firefox completely!

That's funny, the browser I was and still am having Adobe issues with is Comodo Dragon and that's Chrome based and I was just thinking of trying their Comodo IceDragon which is Firefox derived. I think I'll have a look for a slimmed down I.E. based browser, but not actual I.E. as I've had issues with that too. There are loads to choose from.

I was under the impression that Chrome had inbuilt Flash functionality and that it updates when the browser is updated, I presume this would be the same with Dragon...

That was what I thought. I have Flash enabled, but it won't work despite a new download of V11. It works OK on I.E.

Try uninstalling Dragon and then perform a re-install Geoff, that is how I cured my Chrome woes. Incidentally your issue is the same as I experienced with Chrome, which is when you recommended Dragon to me ;)

Yes, I'll try that. I like Comodo Dragon, it has a functionality that suits me and is a lighter load than the full Chrome package. It would be handy to keep it.

I'm going to poke about on Download.com for an additional I.E. based browser too.

For an alternative to IE have a butchers at Avant (http://www.avantbrowser.com/) Geoff. I've not used it for a few years but it used to be the best IE based browser by a country mile, it's quick too ;)

I had a look at Avant Dave. It's a pretty big package and appears to come with a lot of features I don't need. I think I'll keep looking for something slimline that's I.E. derived (yes I've tried Slimbrowser in the past).

Well, I hope one of my new browsers will stop all this messing about trying to get Adobe Flash Player to operate (I've just downloaded V.11 yet again).

I.E. seems immune to problems and allows Flash to function, but I don't like I.E. I've now installed QT, Titan, IceDragon and Dolphin browsers to evaluate.

I'm familiar with Dolphin as I used bit a year or two back, it's a moderately small download and is I.E. based and it looks really great, with nice features. Titan must be from the same people that do Dragon and Icedragon, it seems to function identically and looks very similar, but has higher privacy modes (I'm using Titan now). QT is very small and a portable browser, but looks smart and seems to work well enough. IceDragon looks like Dragon, but is Firefox based apparently. I've yet to give it a proper spin.

Dolphin is looking very promising.

I use Dolphin on my smartphone Geoff, didn't realize they produced a windows version. I like the mobile version so I will give Dolphin a spin too ;)

Yes, I'm using Dolphin Browser at the moment Dave. It's remarkably comprehensive considering the download package is pretty small compared to some of the big names. It looks great too. Features/functions are in different positions than on most so there's a bit of acclimatisation, but so far so good, no issues yet.

Bugger! I had Dolphin all nicely set up and running fine. Then I tried using it to download another browser to try and Dolphin switched itself off and stopped working altogether. This happened three times and it lost all my saved user I.D.'s and passwords. It may just be a setting that's wrong, but I can't think which one. I just downloaded the file I wanted via Titan Browser with no bother so it's not the download site.

Had a few problems with Dolphin too. Was disappointed to discover that it refuses to sync with ighome, the website I'm using to replace iGoogle which Google stop supporting tomorrow evening. Basically I have to download all my widgets every time I open it which is a PITA. I think I'll stick with Chrome for now :eyebrows:

Just started using IceDragon. Seems OK so far, wonder if anythings going to f**k up on this one?

I think I may prefer Titan actually. Bit more intuitive to use and very like the Dragon I was using. At least it's not refusing to allow Flash to work so far.

Hooray! Hooray! I've finally figured out how to get Flash Player to run in Titan Browser (Chrome). I'm assuming the same trick will apply to Dragon and IceDragon.

F**k it!

I thought I had this sorted. I loaded a page or two with Flash requirements onto Titan Browser with no messages telling me that I needed Flash (which is what's been happening, even though I've got it downloaded), then suddenly Titan Browser decides to display the 'Flash plug-in required' message that I was getting with Comodo's Ice Dragon and Dragon browsers. I reckon Titan comes from the same company. I've given up! Now using I.E. I hate giving in!!!!

More browser experimentation to follow.

Giving Apple's Safari browser (windows version) a whirl now. Seems very slick and quick and not being based on I.E., Firefox or Chrome, hopefully it won't display any of their bad habits. I'll report back later!

This is going to take some serious familiarisation. Everything works differently and has different names, but it looks promising. Just compared the speed to I.E. and it seems much faster loading pages.

The jury is still out on Safari, I'm still getting used to it. I've just been using Maxthon 2 browser, it's very nice to use, remembers everything and it hasn't put a foot wrong tonight. Impressed so far! It's just an I.E. development so I wasn't expecting miracles, but it works very well.

I'm liking Maxthon 2 browser a lot. I like the built in 'screen capture' and 'split view', which allows you to display two tabbed pages at a time, one on each half of the screen. very useful.
