By the way, which type of connector do you recomend for the Jelco on the 1210? Straight or 90° DIN?

Another few dummy questions.

Using am AT-LH18/OCC with the denon DL-103SA

Which colors connect to which pins? Blue, green, white, red to R,Er,L,El in which combination?

And on which holes have you've mounted the cartridge?

The back ones or the front ones?

Is the color code below valid?

Left = white wire
Left Ground = blue wire
Right = red wire
Right Ground = green wire

Would something like this be correct, both in terms of wiring as in terms of positioning? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/26/f4601a98bd91e24c1e03dc240cb631a0.jpg

I just had the most unpleasant surprise.

I bought the Jelco SA-750D almost two years ago, but never had the chance to place it on my turntable up until today.

It's been sealed in the box till today, only for me to discover that the tonearm as a defect. One of the pins as no passage from the front to the back.

The left mass pin make no passage from the front (checked with a multi-meter fluke) tested without head shell to the bottom of the arm, male TAC connector.

I already sent an email to the dealer to see how I can solve this. But I have little hope.

I'll most probably have to check how can I fix this on my own or with someone who is used to re-wire tonearms.

What can we do to solve this issue? Is it possible to access the internal wiring?

How?

I just hope there is a way of fixing this without jamming the mechanical aspect of the tonearm.

I honestly feel sick in my stomach

Hi Andrei,

Of what exactly? Any specific angle?

I had in mind a pic of the tonearm from the front without the headshell. Prob not important.
Here's an idea that may sidestep the problem: Tonearm rewire. A few people have chosen to rewire their Jelco's either to something like Cardas or a good silver. In fact I have taken the plunge with mine and have ordered some Audio Note Silver wire. I won't do the soldering myself as I think it really requires an expert. It will cost a bit, but it should be an improvement over the standard wire.
Another possibility is to write to Jelco Direct. I find the Japanese pride themselves on their workmanship and value their reputation. They may well be able to help.

I've tough on going through that path, but for now I really would like to solve this issue.

I've been in contact with the UK distributor but so far it seams the only path would be to ship it to Japan for an inspection. Doesn't seem an option as in between shipping costs, custom taxes and repair, it would be too costly.

Warranty is void has it was bought it nearly two years ago, and in the UK (where I bought if from) warranty only covers a year (as opposed to two in Portugal).

I've been trying to find out a technician in Portugal that could have a look at it but so far the feedback I receive is that it should be handled by an official Jelco tech. support. Something about tight specs, opening amd closing procedures, wire and solder type and weight and so forth.

Any of you guys know of anyone in the UK that could have a look at it?

This is really an unpleasant situation.

Actually that isn't so, in UK consumer law and in EU law the protection is longer, but its not straight forward to pursue it.
