Hello,

I thought I would post some photos about an interesting cartridge. This is a Japanese "clone" of the legendary Neumann DST.
Not as good as the Neumann, but still sounds very nice if serviced properly. Not all of them need a service but since the manufacturer had inconsistent quality.

Hope you'll enjoy the photos.

Amazing shots if a bit like a set from Alien. Send it to NW for a good clean I say!

Thanks for your suggestion but I will clean and service it myself :-)
I already made a special order for a part that needs to be changed.
I am not sure if NW would be able to service such cartridge. EsCo and Mr. Lukaschek already refused the service.
I already serviced 2 Neumann DST 62s so I have all tools and the knowledge to do it properly :-)

Excellent stuff.
Well done for doing it yourself.

Given the quality of the close-up shots and that you've already taken the cart apart I have no doubt you can do this yourself!

I already serviced many cartridges, I have 30 years experience.

The layout looks almost like a moving coil version of a Decca cartridge.

Bit presumptuous assuming I could not repair such a cartridge don't you think?

I don't think Laszlo was deriding your skill Dom, he just said that he wasn't sure.

Dear Dominic,

Sorry if I used wrong words, English is not my native language.
Looking at your photos and the feedback about your work I can see that you are a professional.
What I tried to write down is that I am not sure if you had the chance to service such a cart like a Lumiére or the original Neumann DST and if you would accept to service it.
Only a few people in the World would do it and even professionals like Benz and EsCo refused the service as it is too complicated and I guess their machine is not capable of winding such coil.
This needs special tools and hand work.

Hi Dom,

Sorry to butt in here, but how's Natalie? She's not posted here for ages and I've sent you various PMs about the matter, but with no reply :(

Let us know hwo she is, mate.

Marco.

I am waiting for the special order part but as soon as I will be ready with the repair I will post more photos.
In the meantime I will share some photos of a Jan Allaerts MC2 Finish Gold.
But only in case you are interested in it :-)

I've seen the pictures now - posted on DIY Audio. The Jan Allaerts is intreresting - very 'hand made' in places!

Last time I photos like that was on National Geographic.

Seriously though: pretty fabulous close-up photography - Well done!

Yep, totally agree, the photos are outstanding but too many of them for a forum like this, IMO.

I have to agree with you, it's too many :-( Next time I will sort some out and post fewer of them.

I don't see how there can be too many? There is an element of repetition about some of them, but that's a different issue.
