Many companies seem to be like that. Completely unready for the import tax changes, despite the majority of the details being available now for several years. Last minute changes are easy to implement if one is ready on the whole.

We need stronger unions, and more of a militant mentality in the workforce....
Two words - British Leyland.
;)
Yeah, that's what happens with extremes! Either one way or the other is always bad and never a proper solution. I'm a 'happy mediums/best of both worlds' kinda guy, so generally find happiness somewhere in the middle ground.
Problem is now, it's gone the other way (arguably as bad as it was with overly militant unions during the 70s), with management having WAY too much power over their workforce, often with little recourse for their employees to legally challenge it, thus in many cases imposing ridiculous demands on their workers, whilst paying them tuppence, coupled with a mamby-pamby workforce who don't have the balls to stick up for themselves, or in many cases are too scared to speak up for fear or losing their jobs, as there's always some other 'sheep' only too willing to take their place...
It's the perfect storm for creating fascist dictatorships:doh:

Did you see that news story in the Mail about that four foot nothing psychic that robbed a building society in full view of the CCTV, and is now on the run? The headline read "Small Medium at Large". I'll get me coat...

I agree. Presumably in the first case it is because they are looking for a 'poop bin', and in the second because they can't be bothered to look for one.
My own complaint is of cats who defaecate in my garden. I have to pick it up and then walk a long way to the nearest poop bin.

The problem is the OWNERS, not the cats! Too many folks have cats or dogs and don't take sufficient responsibility for them (in all respects).
We've got three cats, and they either use their litter trays in the house, which are frequently cleaned, or do their business somewhere in OUR (read as their) garden, in order to 'mark their territory', as it were, as that's what they've grown used to, and therefore have no inclination or reason to piss or shit anywhere else.
Therefore, if you've got cats and don't want them to defecate in neighbours gardens, the answer is either to bring them up from young kittens simply to be 'house pets', so from day one they know nothing else but life indoors, as indeed is the case for those who live in high-storey flats, or provide them with a garden to use, plus also litter trays indoors, when the weather is bad, and which are kept scrupulously clean, as cats are very clean animals.
Don't just kick them out at night or in all weathers and worry not what they get up to - TAKE PROPER RESPONSIBILITY and get them used to a routine. During the summer our cats are allowed out until 7pm, and in the winter 4pm, and we don't let them out at night.
They know when it's time to come in, and so when they're called, they come in. And they're perfectly happy with that arrangement, as that's what they've always been used to, and indeed at night sleep with us! That's been the case with all the cats we've ever had - we treat them not just as pets, but as members of the family:)
And if you're unwilling or unable to take such proper responsibility for the animals you own, cats or otherwise, then don't have pets in the first place, simples!!
Marco.

Not sure what you mean by "fashion accessory", but anything goes in Brighton
We have quite a few bins in our village, so I tend to have planned routes which have a bin at some point. What really winds me up is the buggers who bag the poo then hang it from a bush or tree :steam: I'd rather that they just left the unbagged poo on the footpath, at least it would rot down.

Nice that you have cats that will only dump in your litter tray or garden, but don't kid yourself that this has anything to do with your being a responsible pet owner - cats by their nature are independent, not pack animals like dogs, so have no desire to please their pack leader. They will do as they please, and if this aligns with what you want from them, great.
Our cat has a litter tray, which is always clean as she never uses it. In the morning she gets her breakfast first thing, but doesn't touch it till she's gone outside for a couple of minutes. When I care to look I always notice her doing her thing in our borders. At 8.30 evening she gets some dreamies in her mouse, and that always brings her to me. Then that's her in for the night. But she will escape after this time given half a chance, so windows and doors are closed.
One thing we don't do is treat her as a member of the family. She doesn't sit at the table with us, we don't take her shopping, we don't dress her, and we don't have her put the bins out :) And we don't nag her about cleaning her room Because she's a pet :ner:

Indeed, but as a responsible and caring owner, you train them and get them used to a routine from day one, then hope for the best!
*BUT* at least you've tried and done what you can, unlike the lazy, irresponsible fucks, who don't deserve to have pets in the first place, and who just kick their cats outside 24/7 and let them roam feral around the neighbourhood, pissing and shitting everywhere, and goodness knows what else!:ner:
That is the point, muchacho.

Lol - well, what I meant by that is, as we don't have kids, they're our 'wee babies', and so we spoil them rotten (Del's besotted with her cats, as she's always been cat mad, as girlies tend to be), and fuss over them accordingly.
You know how you get some folk who just get a cat, feed and water it, and I guess look after it to an extent, but don't really bother with it that much, as it's 'just a cat'? Then you get others, like us (and perhaps you) who dote on them?
If either of us go out for any length of time, they *really* miss us (especially me as I'm usually in the house all day keeping them company), and when we come home, they're all over us (like dogs do), meowing, jumping up on us/licking us, etc. So what I'm getting at is we're very 'close' to them, and they mean the world to us, just like if they were our kids.
Therefore, when the cats are in the house, they're either all in the lounge with us sleeping in their dedicated furry cat baskets, or chairs, in front of the fire, yes eating with us to an extent, not when we're at the table, but if I'm having a 'TV dinner', and sitting with my meal on a tray, as sometimes happens, and it's something the cats like, such as chicken, then I'm surrounded by all three of them, wanting some, so as we've got tiled floors, I chuck them a few titbits, which they eat up, and I wipe up after then later, which as there's no carpet is easy:)
Emrys, the long-haired ginger tom spends most of the evening snuggled up to Del, so she cuddles him on the sofa, like a teddy bear (as he's so soft and fluffy), and they're both in heaven! Our cats, unlike most, aren't really 'aloof'; they enjoy our company almost as much as dogs. They also go for regular check ups to the vets and for their flu jabs. And the male kittens we get are neutered as soon as they're old enough. But they're very rarely ill, and typically the rescue cats (we always get the youngest kittens), from the local Cat Protection League, live until into their 20s.
We buy them the best cat food (the stuff they like most) both wet (Felix Doubly Delicious) and dry, as they love their Hills Oral Care biscuits, from Pets at Home, and their Whiskas cat milk! We spend around £100 every 6 weeks on cat food. They're also fortunate to have a large garden to roam around in, which when the weather's good they're out in all day.
Then when it's bed time, two of them sleep with us on our bed, and the other in her cat basket beside the bed, but when it's cold she'll often come up and join the others for a warm, and sometimes we can't move for cats, but it's worth it, as they're our 'wee babies'!:D:)
Anyway, you get the picture? Not 'just pets', but truly members of the family. And because they're so spoiled and happy [want for nothing], that's generally why they're so obedient:cool:

Surely that why it should be suitably packaged for roughhouse eventualities. This isn't even a padded envelope - just 2 flimsy pieces of cardboard taped together. It's like the seller just gave up on doing a proper job!

To be fair the seller has offered a refund if I open the package up and the the record is bust. He's got loads of positive feedback so I checked for the negative feedback comment and his response made me laugh ;
Poorly packaged, it arrived with jewelcase all broken and the cover cut off. I said this to the seller but he doesn't care about it

On the subject of cats pissing and shitting everywhere...I looked out of my window the other day and watched a cat have a shit in my garden and then it buried it
Ha - I had to re-read that, as at first I thought you said that you'd buried the cat!:D
Seriously though, a well-looked after cat, with sufficient indoor and outdoor toilet facilities of its own, will be disinclined to do that, which is my point. I'd be mortified if our cats were shitting in our neighbours gardens, and as they know them well, and us, we'd soon hear about it!

Yer a bit of a cheeky monkey! When I asked for a reply to one of my posts last week you just told me I'd have a long wait, then moved on! it's a two-way street, Pete! :D
No smart arse remark forthcoming, i agree with and understand it all.
Our cat is spoiled rotten too. She has her own little quirks too - if we don't get out of bed early to do her breakfast, she comes into the bedroom to tell us. Sher can't be arsed meowing, she shakes her head to make her collar bell ring, knowing how it winds up mum. She follows us round the house and garden like a clingy toddler. Her evening routine sees her led on whatever hifi mag is on the sofa (as long as it's not open at a Russ Andrews advert, cos she won't settle), at 8.30pm she comes over and stares at me until I go get her Dreamies, when I pick up her mouse she dabs at my hand (soft paws) and attacks my foot. No idea why.
As I said before cats do as they please, and there ain't much you can do about it. She has never peed or shit in the house, but if one day she decides to jump up on the table and do a dump on my Rice Krispies I'll just have to learn to like beefy Coco Pops :)
Lol - the difference with your questions for me [about taking to the streets, re: lockdown, etc] was that they were a blatant piss-take, whereas my post wasn't. If you ask a proper question, or your point is serious, you'll always get a proper answer, even if it's just about jobbies!:D
Yeah, that's cool, glad to hear you're a devoted cat lover, just like us. Yes, cats will largely do what they want, but my point was if you train them properly, get them used to a routine, and crucially provide them with ample toilet facilities, indoor and out, they're far less likely to 'fertilise' any of the neighbours gardens;)
Marco.
my cat would be out all day.. ask to get in...have a crap in the tray then demand out again;)
Lol - much depends on the personality of the cat.
Our two girl cats, who were sisters and obtained together as kittens, are heat/good weather freaks, and so aren't too keen on venturing out unless its at least 15C, preferably more, and if they do only for short bursts, but the ginger tom (who was proper feral when we got him, at only weeks old), is a bit more 'adventurous'.
But even he'll only go out for a couple of hours at a time, before coming in for something to eat or for a sleep, and is quite happy to stay in after it starts getting dark until the following morning, especially when the log burner's on during the winter, and being cuddled by Del:eyebrows:

My parents had a succession of cats. The last one was a bit stupid. When she wanted to go out she would often go to the front door and asked (meowed) to be let out. If the the weather was poor and raining, she would turn tail and make her way through the house and ask to be let out of the back door - presumably expecting the weather to be better there.
Ha. My gal did that on occasion too. She's go out eventually but if really wet the back door usually as she could drop under the ramp and stay dry

Both my cats do this... maybe they regard the different doors as leading to separate parallel dimensions.
And what if they were right? Who's the more evolved species now then.

He can be found on Twitter, apparently this sort of thinking is quite popular in the C of E at the moment, the usual higher ups (Clergymen) being out of step with normal folk. Oddly what he said was at the extreme end of Wokeness - and he's a clergyman - just weird. I ended up with a spare one. The refuse crew crushed it in their truck mechanism, so I got a new one sent out after complaining. They wouldn't take the damaged one away though, so I left it in the sun and within a month it went back into shape :).
yeah ive had mine replaced when its gone missing.. my neighbours kid went searching for it and found it in another neighbours garden. she took it back lol

Why should someone bother stealing one?..because it's twenty f*****n quid for a new one..

ours are still all free. not sure the garden one will stay that way tho. tbh i really dont want the garden now as its way too big for my disability, but this is my home and getting a transfer to a slum neighbourhood doesnt excite me too much

Our first bin is free, provided by the council...if it goes missing, we have to pay for another one...even if it is stolen...total shite...councils are a law unto themselves..make a noise and the twats just become difficult and will not help you...I'd bet money, if your bin goes missing, you won't get a second one for nowt...apparently it's our responsibilty to look after the bin..If I get hold of the twats, who swiped it..I'll throttle them...

Call in at the council offices in person, and when the jobsworth refuses to help, wait outside for him to finish work. Then follow him home and nick his bin :)

Very good Steve..I like your train of thought...it's just some dopey pratt in the lane, who's taken in my bin by mistake..obviously blind as a bat...on a search of the lanes, there's a stray bin, which I've taken in for now...The bin men are lazy bastards...the lanes are quite narrow, so the wagon has difficulty navigating them...the bin men empty the bins and leave them at the end of the lane instead of putting them back outside our back gates.....

'There's always lots of break-ins over the holidays, we should get one before we go away.'
yes so it can start going off for no reason ten minutes after you leave for the airport and carry on for days until finally someone comes along with a ladder and a hammer and smashes the bastard thing off the wall.
What is wrong with asking the neighbours to keep an eye on the place whilst you are away? Such as picking up the mail and putting it somewhere it cannot be seen etc.
We always notify our immediate neighbours when we go away.
Indeed - there's a lot to be said for the old-fashioned way!
One of our neighbours even looks after out cats while we're on holiday, and comes to feed them everyday, plus checks on the house, and we return the compliment when he's away. It's called socialising with people in the REAL world and making REAL friends, rather than needing to rely on tech.
The problem nowadays is that no bugger talks to anyone anymore - everyone lives in their own little 'bubble', conducting their 'plastic lives', virtually, so they won't even know their neighbours, as they'll be too busy counting their 'followers' on Instagram or other imaginary 'friends' on Facebook!
Try asking any of them to look after your house:doh:

We always do this too, but as much as anything it's to let them know there will be a strange face about the place - we have a friend come house-sit and look after the cat. She gets fed for free, and it's like a little holiday for her. And we bring her something back :)
I dont really go anywhere so its not an issue here, but when i did go anywhere i got my neighbour to pop round and feed cat; let her out etc, and keep an eye on my whisky:ner:

I've been repeatedly banned from Hifi wigwam and Pinkfishmedia, these what you would expect to be bastions of blokeishness have been taken over by the 'Woke'. I'm just wondering when Marcos going to wake up? I mean the last ban from the Wam was for the following post: In a topic called 'what's your favourite optical illusion', I said 'a transwomen, aka man in a dress', and that's it, no warnings, just a straight up ban, I suppose I am a fascist after all then.

I don't know if that's the case, but if true, I expect it's due to forums being run by those who think that way, or don't care, or are fearful of a 'woke' backlash.
Maybe also that some forum hosting providers will think that way too and impose their own selective censorship/cancellation and this may influence things.

I usually refill when I get down to half a tank, and never let it go below a quarter full. If you let it fall to the 'reserve' level, there is always a risk of drawing through sludge.

These bikes don't hold a lot of fuel, and you only get about 120 miles from full to the light coming on (there is no fuel gauge, so the only way to get a rough idea is to shake the tank side to side).
I treat the bike the same as my van, ride till the light comes on, then get to the garage and fill to the top. It's a system that works well for me. This time the fuel light came on when I was half a mile from home. No problem, just fill up first thing next time I go out. Which would have been today  But with no shortage of alternative transport, it really is no biggie, and no reason to change how I do things.
I suppose I could come down to a Texaco I've heard good things about in Wrexham, but I just know that they will say it's a LOCAL garage for LOCAL people :(

The point is though, the system that normally works for you this time hasn't worked!;) And if the tanks of ANY of your vehicles today had been full, or at least not nearly empty, then you wouldn't have had a problem. Dat, muchacho, is the reality:)
The fact that I ensure the Brabster has at least half a tank of fuel in it *at all times* is the reason that, unlike many this week, I won't have to run around like a headless chicken looking for diesel - simples.

Some fair points, which would be more important for those with only one motor (you have only the Brabster standing between you and the bus service), but our car and my van were both filled two days ago. The bike is just my toy. Oh and Mrs. P doesn't let the Volvo get to nearly empty, just me :)
Don't feel too bad about the bit in bold - few people are :D
One more thing - if there was no fuel available for the Vito I wouldn't be running round like a headless chicken, I'd just shrug and say "oh well, maybe tomorrow or the next day" and take the day off. Because I can :)
Lol - fair enough, Mr Chuff... All points noted:)

My bike is similar range, I don’t even have a warning light, just a small reserve (never actually hit it, fill up after 100 miles.) it’s nearly full, so a contingency if needed. I have 1/4 tank in my car, about 160 miles, and half a tank in the Land Rover (200 miles at a guess). Sue is the one that needs it to get to work and drop Billy to school (around 60 miles a day) and has enough to get her to Thursday I think. After that, she’s working from home and Billy’s off school. Marco, revisiting a discussion we had a few weeks ago (pay at pump vs. pay in kiosk):
A couple of weeks ago I went to my usual Sainsbury's to fill up the Vito. The pay at pump facility wasn't working, meaning I had to pay in person. The woman in the kiosk said to me "It's Steve isn't it?" and proceeded to tell me how much they love the new door I fitted a few months ago, and how they'll be calling me for new windows next spring.
So you're right, paying in person has a social aspect. Which is nice, though I doubt the queue behind me would have agreed :)
Lol, nice one. Well, for me, you earned the right to have that chat, from the quality of product and service you delivered to the customer concerned, and which is always nice to receive - which of course, as you've rightly said, you'd have missed if you'd paid at the pump:)
So yes, sometimes it pays to opt for the 'human touch', especially in today's growingly unhuman world. I'm sure that the brief word you had with her wouldn't have delayed anyone's progress much - and in any case folks are always in too much of a hurry these days, so it'd have done them good to chill for a few moments!;)
Marco.
You can't fault the good folks at Texaco for keeping in touch with their valued customers: http://a.cly.cx/a/xMCCuvBk78y

Some of the stories though of sub-humans attacking petrol tankers and/or fighting with other drivers over fuel, beggars belief! I'd jail them all for a month, and see how 'important' £20 worth of diesel is to them then!:wanker:
Marco.
I heard on the radio today that a person was filling up his tank, when towards the end he noticed the litre indicator hadn't been ticking over. So he went into the kiosk and asked them what he should do, to which he was told that since the pump had not registered the amount dispensed, as far as they were concerned it was a 'no sale'. Thus the guy was not only able to fill his tank, but got around £100 worth of petrol for free!

I find it an annoying distraction, but won't grow a beard. I can understand why so many older guys get fed up with needing to do so and grow some sort of facial fuzz.
Mostly I use an electric shaver, but have the occasional wet shave. I'd sooner not need to! :)

i quite enjoy a good wet one.;)
yes it's a pain in the arse. Would shave every morning when I worked in the office but working from home you forget and it gets out of hand then takes an hour or so to shave off. Gets too long to use an electric shaver on it and then it clogs up the razor when you wet shave so you go through a whole pack of them for one shave.
The older I get the faster it seems to grow.

dont use those cheap double/triple blade things.. get a decent wet razor and buy feather blades. last for ages and dont clog. great shave quickly too, once you get your confidence after slicing yourself a few times lol

I would but I don't wet shave often enough for it to be worth the spend. I only wet shave if I've let it grow too long to use an electric, or if going to a wedding or funeral or something else where you're expected to make an effort.

Always been fascinated by blokes who can have the same length of stubble all over their face and their head so it blends seamlessly into one.
I think you need to be quite swarthy for that to work.

In his novel "Keep the Aspidistra Flying", George Orwell described a man who always managed to stay three days away from a shave. I have come across people like that, by using electric clippers probably. But I doubt such things existed 80 years ago.
I haven't been completely shaven since January 2000, although never had a full beard. Decide a couple of weeks ago to give it a try so let the bits that were shaved catch up with furry bits and now giving it a go - main reason being I can't be arsed to shave! Doubt it will last, but funny thing is no one seems to have noticed!
Horrors! - I shave everyday with a Braun shaver that is at least 25 years old (the replacement foils are getting hard to obtain!) I have a couple of other Braun shavers - one of which I use to trim the sideburns and eyebrows, which if left unattended, would make me look like Dennis Healey!
never could get on with an electric. ive a nice braun 7 myself but rarely use it tbh

I would leave my eyebrows untrimmed in the summer, no need for sunglasses :) and untrimmed in the winter too, keep my eyes warm. But Anita would leave me. So I let her do them when she does my hair, and also my ear-beards.
Had my first shave in over two years yesterday - been keeping an all over number two (well that was the theory) with an electric trimmer.
I just wondered how I would look without the stubble, and get a bit of moisturiser on my chin. Made bugger all difference and Fliss didn't notice :(
imagine the fuss if I didn't notice that she had had her hair done
