Hello

How do you know when a stylus has worn out , is it visible to see or does the sound alter drastically

Similar thing with a cartridge , I have seen post saying " sent it away to be looked at / rebuilt ? "

Any advice please :)

Splashy cymbals, sibilant S's and mis-tracking in general are usually symptoms of either a worn stylus or a poorly setup cartridge...

A stylus microscope will let you see for yourself, a hand held one from Dealextreme NO.9592 works well for less than 20 Pounds.

Yep, cheap as chips & it actually works very well. Focus is critical, as you would expect in a minature unit but once set it is a doddle to use. It is not 60x as claimed, but a much more usefull 30x.
