I suppose I'd better say something nice about mark as well then! :rolleyes: ;)
Seriously, AoS and the world of hfi is a poorer place without your involvement, and you really are amongst friends here - it was good to catch up with you again, albeit too briefly (and not enough beer involved - well on my part! :eyebrows:) and of course it was a completely different experience for me this year too, as I hardly got to see any rooms unlike last year when we were "partners in crime" and did just about all of them. Take it easy fella and you know where we are.

Great news, Mark. It was good to finally meet you, too! Have you fired up the PPP yet?
Apart from plugging it in & having a fiddle the answer is no, not really :eyebrows: The thing is I need to alter a few things such as mains plugs as the P600 uses american plugs on the outputs. As well as that having measured the depth of the PPP & seen how little room I'll have at the back to fit plugs & cables in the 'fridge', I'll have to use fairly standard mains plugs. So an order was put in to a certain Mr Grant today for a couple of toughplugs as well as a 9m long DSP 1.0 lead with figure of 8 plug to power the TV. As this thing runs cool I might as well run that to ;)

Not quite true, Dave - in the introduction he says

And in the final paragraph:
Coming one week after the Bristol Show, the Wigwam "bake off" was a delightful contrast. With 49 different, carefully tuned and individual systems all being demonstrated in a wide range of rooms, this is a non-commercial show that delights visitors. There was even a "cheap as chips" room demo'ing ultra cheap buys, mostly second hand, able to deliver a decent sound, showing that enjoying music doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. The Wigwam show is imaginative and gorgeously unconventional. DIY abounds and old products get an airing alongside the radically new. Neither the rain nor the M1 motorway could keep me from enjoying this great show. (My bold.) I was quite happy the CAC room got a mention at all. :)
Granted - no photos - but then I guess not surprising given the other more visually appealing systems!

Well I was there and it didn't. The chaps running the room did an outstanding job and the CaC systems punched way above their sub £100 price tags, but they didn't magically transcend being composed of budget components.

Hi Mark good to see you back mate . Couldn't make the show this year to buy you the many pints I owe you . Maybe catch up with you next year . The little Royds which you so kindly helped me upgrade are now singing and will be staying in my system for a very long time . Hope all is well with you .

I think it's great that the press are at least interested enough to make the effort.
I think whatever rooms he decides to write about is unimportant.

I agree, and as Alex points out the CAC room got two mentions. Anyway if anyone wants to see photos of dusty old junk my gallery pictures are still up there some way back on the thread :D

Yup, I think that's a fine write-up by NK covering quite a wide mix of systems, and he did the CAC room proud as far as I am concerned!
And I think the CAC room was a great success - a brilliant idea, Alex. I heard lots of positive comments on it from visitors in the corridors as well as in the room itself. Do something similar again next year! :thumbsup:
It was a great show - my first as an (almost) pure visitor - and I had a great time meeting up with folks and annoying people with the CDs I brought along. :eyebrows:
Some of the smaller systems certainly punched well above their weight - SCIDB Dean's Snell-fronted system comes to mind. A real boogie factor in that room!

Thanks Jerry - not decided on next year yet - I'll make up my mind once once the bruises have faded and the aches stopped! It is nice of course to receive positive feedback. :)

Thanks Alex - well, I'd buy Paul's 401 setup at the Show in a flash! But I'm not into the fettling biz myself - happy to buy one once it's all sorted though!
