Yesterday was lovely. Today has reverted to boring and dull. It's dry, and warm enough - 16 C rising to 19C later. Hopefully the promised sunshine will come out this afternon.

Stayed warm with hazy sun all day, with just the odd spot of rain, not enough to wet anything.

So I spent much of the day filling an 8-yard skip with assorted crap from under my car port (much of it stuff I'd kept because it looked like it could be used for something). So I've been really ruthless today - as the skip cost me 300 quid I'm going to fill every little bit of it.

Torrential rain since about 1100. Floods all over. Set to continue until midnight.

Tomorrow looks pretty good. Warm, no wind, and sunny in the afternoon. Plus it's Friday.

Is that the going rate? Is an "8-yard skip" small, medium, or large?

I think I could fill an 8-yard skip with all the junk at the back of my garage and what is up in the loft.

    6 yarder.

    8 yarder.

They may also be available in 2-, 4- and 12-yard versions.

If you get on well with your neighbours, one way to save a bit of money is to see if he has any crap he needs to be rid of, and "sell" him a bit of your skip space. I've done that with mates on a few occasions

Thanks Steve, I think a 6 yarder would be sufficient.

I'm probably stating the obvious but best to start with the little stuff, and finish with big items on top. Important to avoid voids
