If 6 Were Nine was the title of a Hendrix Tribute album, which featured legendary band The Shamen, amongst others, who covered 'Purple Haze' in their own inimitable style...

The Shamen were originally called Alone Again Or - a direct reference to the '60's band Love whose biggest moment was the album 'Forever Changes'

It's been said that Love's 'Little Red Book' was more than a bit influential on the development of the main riff from Pink Floyd's 'Interstellar Overdrive'.

The first Pink Floyd album of the "Gilmour led era" was A Momentary Lapse of Reason - which included contributions from Phil Manzanera, lead guitarist with Roxy Music - who's first single was Virginia Plain (Check out the crowd in this 1972 Top of the Pops performance!)

Brian Eno collaborated with (among many other people) Talking Heads, even naming one of his albums as an anagram of the band name (King's Lead Hat)

The mighty Half Man Half Biscuit wrote a song called 'Eno Collaboration'. No video, so here's the lyrics:

Number one in Britain and successful in the States
So round the table me and label bosses contemplate
You’ve got to get a second home
    And hang with Chrissie Hynde
You get yourself some Ray-Bans and before you know it’s time
For your Eno – Eno collaboration
    All across the nation
As sure as night follows day
I travelled South America recording different sounds
I danced within an elven ring of quicksilver delight
    Highly influential documentary guaranteed
Who put the ‘con’ in concept?
It was me with my Eno – Eno collaboration
    All across the nation
As sure as night follows day
I know Bono and he knows Ono and she knows Eno’s phone goes thus:
“Brian’s not at home, he’s at the North Pole
but if you’d like to leave a weird noise”
So roll up for the Eno – Eno collaboration
    All across the nation
As sure as night follows day
I went from the Andes to the Indies in my undies
A light aircraft was on standby just in case I got bored
In Montego where my ego fair blocks out the sun
Sing Aurora Borealis, uber alles, on toast

The Talking Heads had an album in 1986 called True Stories on which there was a track called 'Radio Head'.

Luckily, we can link HMHB to Radiohead - Radiohead were involved in campaigning to save Radio 6 - and of course there was a big Facebook campaign to get HMHB's Joy Division Oven Gloves to number 6 in the charts in April this year - so carry on with the next link to the Radiohead one please

HMHB also cite Radiohead in 'On Passing Lilac Urine':

'Don’t get too excited boy, although it’s nearly spring
For the serpent also hisses where the sweet birds do sing
Some say some day one of these fine nights
Council’s gonna ask Radiohead to switch off Blackpool lights'

We now return you to your normal programmes.
