Default A nice new find!! AoS :)

    Hi,

    My name is Fran,

I was on a little search to see what I could find about upgrading/replacing my HTPC's sound card to something "else". Low and behold I find the Art of Sound and LOTS of modifications in the drawing board section.....

Perfect site for me, love to tinker with anything electronic, love to modify and enhance just about anything I own. If it comes with a remote, I WANT it

Here are a few pics of my setup. :

Rotel RMB 1077 Amp - RSP1068 Pre Amp, B&W 703's - HTM7- DS7’s, REL Strata III Sub, SDI Mod Sony DVD DVP-CX777es, ISCAN HD, 6 Zone Sonos, HTPC Modded X-Merdian Sound Card, Oppo BD-83 Bluray, Beresford TC-7520 DAC, Escient DVDM-100

Lovely room you have there Fran! Welcome to the forum

What's that you've got above the Oppo?

Hope you enjoy it here, there's certainly a lot to get stuck into in the DIY section!

The room and attention to detail is brilliant, Fran - hardly a cable in site. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks guys!

The unit above the Oppo is my HTPC. It is housed in a very nice case made by a company called Origen AE:

    http://www.origenae.co.kr/en/index.htm

I took over the closet to the entrance of the house several years back and blew out the wall and made the shelf you see. I figured visitors could just drape their coats over their shoulders!

There is quite a bit of gear in there as well, two more Sony 400 disc changers, a direct TV receiver, a router, a switch, a Sonos, and an Escient DVDM100.

I've just recently replaced the NEC plasma you see pictured with a 54" Panasonic Plasma TC-P54G25. The NEC died right in the middle of the Masters Golf tournament during the final round. What a difference in picture quality from these newer sets!

Need to update that photo! Unfortunately, my Nikon D40X died as well......That should be back from repair in a few weeks.....

It's pretty easy hiding wires when you live in a ranch. (Pictures of the attic will not be forthcoming)

    Thanks Dad!

A friend of mine created the table for the center channel and built the mantle for me from my conceptual drawing.

My significant other has had quite a bit of say if the decor! Thankfully we share the same modern tastes, I'm very happy to say she does not like "country" like my ex did! What a mismatch to say the least!

I like the way the room is furnished Fran and very impressed the way you have lit the room with some excellent placement of the lighting which must add immensely to the listening pleasure

That looks great Fran & welcome to the Art of Sound!
We have a standing joke here about cables touching the wall - I'm not sure how your embedded cables fit with that particular can of worms.

He's left a gap at the back of his gear just for that purpose, of course!

I agree with Frank's comments in particular. The room is lovely, but it's the lighting and choice of decor which makes it so appealing and cosy looking....

Welcome to AOS, Fran. I look forward to reading your contributions on the 'juicy' aspects of hi-fi!
