Default Hello from the little village of Thorney in Cambridgeshire

The name is Steve and I'm joining in the hope of making new friends on here and discussing hifi, particularly the type of hifi with hot glass glowing things that weren't made yesterday

So far, this poor music lover owns:
    1 x Logitech Squeezebox Duet...running from
1 x Home made from an old Sony PC - Windows Home Server.
into my Audio Innovations 1000 mkIII Power Amp Monoblocs which are fed by
MCU5A/1000 4a Power Conditioner on a Surge Protector
and through some pretty ordinary, but good enough quality cables to my
    Kef 104/2 Speakers.

In addition I am building myself a valve DAC to use with my Duet and then a small pre-amp that will be built into an identical case to that of the DAC that will also house the Duet, and it's new Linear Power Supply.

I've also just finished replacing the dust caps on my 4 B200 drivers in my 104/2, so you can see, I don't mind getting my hands dirty.

    Other jobs to do:
Improve various components inside my amp:
    CLC power supply
    Replacement capacitors
Re-tube with EH EL34 Fat Bottles and new ECC82/ECC83

Then I may strip and repolish the 104/2 and replace the cloth on the speaker grilles.

Then I think I might listen to some music

    Hello Steve,

Welcome to AoS. I think you'll find that there are a number of Roger Waters fans here - especially of that album. I assume of course that this is not the sole item you listen to!

Come on, tell us what else you like to listen to. Don't be shy!

    Regards
    Barry

    Thanks for the welcomes guys.

I promise once I get a decent photo taken of my setup, I will post it for you all to have a giggle at.....you see, the only room in our little house that has the right space for my hifi is my conservatory! Not ideal as I'm sure you'll agree, but I'm getting there and it sounds better than I deserve it to.

Mr Waters is my favourite, but others in the current favourites list are:
Celine Dion Live in Las Vegas
Bat for Lashes - Two Suns
    Jean Michel-Jarre - Teo & Tea
    Pinhani - Inandigin Masallar
    Rickie Lee Jones
    Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells...1, 2 & 3
Thomas Dolby - The Flat Earth

    To name just a few.

    I'm open to further suggestions

    If I can indulge....

I've had the AIs for about two weeks now, and bought them without any manuals. There is a switch on the back....I believe it's to switch in or out the negative feedback?

Have you done much work on your AIs, if so, I'd be keen to find out what and how you feel each modification helped.

They do seem to have stacks of power, but there's this question of EL34s "shorting out", which I find slightly difficult to believe?

I did say hello yesterday, but I think Derren Brown has also just joined the forum, so who knows what is going on! Enjoy AoS.
