ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven

Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down

    Sony SCD XB790 QS

I'm listening to one now, hanging off 7K of amps and speakers. Not a lot wrong with it. Should cost you less than a ton off eBay. Mine was fifty quid bought off here.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

How does this compare to the Sony SCD-XB770S? I tried a s/h Sony SCD-XE800 which died after a week I had an SCD-XE670 which lasted about 2 years so am cautious of Sony players. Maybe just unlucky?

Not sure but I would guess any differences would be tiny. I think you must have been unlucky with Sonys, they die eventually but IME they last longer than most.
