No! - the Dust Bug is the last thing you want. The 'needle talk', caused by the bristles that 'track' the record grooves, will drive you mad.

Give you record a quick wipe with a carbon fibre record brush, 'zap' with a ionising gun (usually not necessary) and play. There is no need for the record to be cleaned as it is played.

    Regards
    Barry

What is it exactly? What does it do, and how does it do it?

It's such an arcane device does it qualify as a Classic Hi Fi Component?

It's used in conjunction with test record to perfectly set up cartridge, Audio Technica made one aswell.

Yes, I suspected as much. No doubt the test record was the Shure 'Audio Obstacle Course'.

I didn't know such devices existed. I've had to use my ears and occasionaly an oscilloscope.

"SSSSSSibilance test, level 1 - (ok)

    Level 2 - (ok)

Level 3 - (Supex's and old Linn MC's are buzzing by now)

Level 4 - Most MC's are jumping out of the groove and many mm's are ssssssssstraining

Level 5 - Only the V15 series and a VERY few others can cope

I can't remember the music Shure used, but once heard, it's never forgotten

The bass drum test was hilarious too.

After reading the posts about record cleaners/dust busters, I realised that I have had two such items stored away for probably 25 years now . Does that make me a hoarder?

The first is a Philips RC3000.jpg. I bought it for the included spare dusters.

The next one is the only tangential record cleaner I can remember seeing.
