    Default Sunsets

One of my favourite things in the world is sunsets. I just love watching the sun go down on a warm evening, glass of red in hand, preferably with some chilled tunes to accompany the visuals.

This is a crap picture, but one of my favourite places I've ever been to for sunsets - Key West in Florida. (Come to think of it, one of my favourite places regardless of sunsets.) Because it holds such lovely memories from 5 years ago, before I was married, before I was a dad, despite the crap quality of the photo, I just love this picture.

I'm sure I'm not alone in loving sunsets - so, got any good pictures and stories to share?

(I have a reasonable view of the sunset from my back garden, which is what prompted this thread - but I was enjoying it too much this evening to get off my backside and find the camera!)

Well you have hooked me again Alex!

I have two of my favourite sunsets here, which are not particularly spectacular in themselves, it's more the story behind them - both were taken in the Cayman Islands.
Through a series on remarakble conincidences I ended up on holiday in the Caymans and learnt to dive there. I was captivated by the islands and wanted to return, but could never afford it. A year after this I won first prize at The London Dive show, which was a 2 week dive holiday in the Caymans! The first picture was taken on 7 Mile Beach, Grand Cayman towards the end of the holiday and I was totally pissed I had to leave.

Then another strange set of circumstances led to me getting a job offer there and this next picture was taken outside my apartment shortly after arriving on the smaller sister island, Cayman Brac. I was drinking a bottle of red wine and thinking back towards the day on 7 Mile Beach when the first picture was taken and saying to myself "Damn, I did it"..... happy days

I have plenty of other sunsets from there, but none as meaningful as these two.

We live near a hill that looks over Worcester and over to Malvern with the hills in the background... Been up there with the dogs during sunsets a lot just recently ... It's a good way to chill after work ... Here some photies from the other day

Thanks Tim & Hamish - superb posts and pictures - I want to go to the Caymans, and the Malverns - NOW! (well not actually now, the sun has well and truly taken his hat off, but you know what I mean!) Thanks chaps, I feel all warm & fuzzy after those (and hope Hannah and bump (prawn) are doing well, Hamish.)

Well if you get on over there right now Alex (you might need a transporter!), it's only 1823 in the Caymans and the sun will be going down soon

It's my thread, so I can drift it as I please! - I'm actually really excited for you both too, as although we don't "know" each other, I just get the feeling that you are going to be blown away by the whole experience - trust me, whatever you think you will feel now, multiply by about 10 and you will be closer! (I'll remind you of this a couple of weeks after the birth!) And on that point (the birth) - trust me on this - all the antenatal classes and books/websites etc. will concentrate very much on the birth, but trust me (again!) - the actual birth will be the "least" of your worries - (maybe not Hannah's though!) - but in all seriousness, don't dwell on the actual delivery too much, because that is only the beginning of the most amazing journey of your lives...

    Anyway, back to sunsets...

Camera lenses made by traditional lens designers and manufacturers (typically German of the 1960s), such as Zeiss, Voigtländer, Steinheil and Leitz.
