The 7520 is great, modded it's sublime. The latest Rubicon cap/mutaras was at least as big a jump to me as the Wolfsen dac and upgraded opamps, probably more.
Smoother yet far clearer and "real" sounding. More high end sounding.

There's another round of mods on this thread..will get that sorted hopefully before I get my Sb Touch...
Er Gaz...before you get your Touch? What about yer old mates hey? Could you order for the three of us? You better wait until this volcano business is over if you are sending off to the USA for the parts.

Question for James - did you also replace the 4.7uf 50v cap marked below?

    Thanks,
    Gareth.

Done the Elna Silmic electrolytic mods, all ready for a proper listen. Previous mods are Nichicon MUSE coupling caps, Dexa regulators and am running my Superteddy-based linear power supply set to 16V into the Caiman. Photo of the finished DAC:

    Audio report soon!

Nearly forgot, my thanks to Carson for a great post on the electrolytic mods.

    Nice .

I've just placed my Elna Silmic II & Nichicon caps order with Parts Connexion but the Muratas are out-of-stock everywhere I look.

You didn't fancy the Dexas? Parts Connexion sell them.

I have mentioned before that as soon as there is a popular mod out for the TC-7520 and the Caiman, a worldwide shortage of said parts occur.

Looking forward to hearing what my modded Dac can REALLY do with a better digital transport.
I've found the 7520/caiman to be very dependant on whatever source you stick in it.

Just got my SB Touch today....

Stan, can the Bdac play 24/96 files without an issue?
Suspect it can, but just wanna check.

    Ta.
