Maybe there is a compatibility issue in your system?

I had the 2M Black as you know, and sold it as I preferred the AT150mlx, which I still have. I have also added a AT20SS since, which I would not have done if it was thin and bright.

My other suggestion would be to buy a couple of spare styli for the 2MB while they are still available, or keep your eyes peeled for news from Ortofon regarding discontinuing it, and get a couple then. That should keep you happy for a few years.
Yes new stylus is definitely on the menu, this will be my 4th! I get 1500-2000 hrs out of each one as I keep vinyl and stylus scrupiously clean. I know some folk have said the 2M sounds a bit lean but in my system I get a very full fat sound, bass is fantastic, deep, powerful and controlled.

Very tough trying to improve on the 2M black as like you I have been round the block many times.

This could be what I was experiencing. The top end sounded extremely strident when I tried it on a SME V.

Over the years I tried several non-MC Audio Technica cartridges and although I don't recall any specific characteristics that were annoying or inadequate, none of them stayed long. I just didn't enjoy what they did.

Mind you, I could say the same about Nagaoka.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Ive , been very close to purchasing a 2m black , but after hearing a 2m blue which sounded good , but i could not live with the surface noise that come from it , even the cadenza blue is noisy in the grove , hana ml is so quiet in comparison

Yes, one of the more negative things about owning one of these carts they can be noise heavy.

Not tempted by the "2M Black LVB 250" at around €1k?

I have read reviews that suggest it only gives you a smidgin more performance - boron cantilever vs aluminium although this difference I appreciate can make a significant improvement.
