Lol - no worries. The thing is, I almost *never* pay attention to lines in films, just as I almost never pay attention to lyrics in songs!

When it comes to music, I'm a 'tunes & rhythm' guy, and when it comes to movies, it's the SCENES (action-wise or otherwise memorable) that stick in my mind most.

So even with my favourite films, which I've seen a 100 times, I would struggle to remember anything any actor had said in them!!

P.S Save perhaps the very famous 'one-liners' from The Godfather movies, Jaws ('we need a bigger boat', etc) or The Shining ('Here's Johnny'). Anything more 'obscure' than that, forget it!!

And that's why so many of these "famous" quotes go right over your head!

When I read through some of the threads elsewhere in this forum, covering technical aspects of our hobby, I don't feel moved to question everything that's said or complain about it because that would at worst ruin the thread, or at least wind everyone up! Similarly, you may find topics in Abstract Chat which are unknown to you. You may have to accept that you will never fully "get" everything.

A bit less car chases and big explosions, and more films with memorable, quotable dialogue may eventually fix things

Watched the first three Dirty Harry recently on TCM. They must have cleaned them up or something because they look fantastic. Seen them all loads of times over the years but they always had that 'Seventies' look to them. Got the first one on DVD and it has that look. But on TCM HD they look like they were made this year. The background music sound quality is really good too.

That super-rich/vibrant colour palette is one of the things I love about watching old Westerns! Valve-powered TV cameras are great...
