There has always been 'climate change', as they call it now since Global Warming ceased to be flavour of the month. Everybody with any kind of agenda is hopping on the bandwagon and lobbing their *facts* at us from all directions, whatever their stance.

Thing is, weather and climate are cyclic in nature and can vary a lot over short or long periods.

I just object to having everybody else's opinion shoved at me and being expected to take it at face value.

Only the equally idiotic fall for it, either that or their fellow travellers are cynical virtue signallers hopping on the bandwagon. Either way they should be given short shrift. They should go to Hong Kong where people have genuine problems to demonstrate about.

As for that Greta whatsername her parents should be ashamed of themselves. As the father of a lad with Asbergers I know that part of my job is to stop him rushing headlong down emotional rabbit holes, not encouraging them for the TV cameras. Things can only end badly for the poor girl.

I'm not avocating doing nothing I'm advocating common sense. The world is not coming to an end and the clowns who are out there weeping in the middle of the road need psychiatric attention, not media time.

I dare say the (more scaremongering) anticipated asteroid strike (or Global War/Viral Pandemic/Yellowstone Eruption) will return us to 'year zero' and we can start all over again............and of course fuck it up all over again.

Indeed, but most of the scientific evidence - and there's a lot of it - is very heavily in favour of "climate change" - which appears to be leading towards higher temperatures overall, higher sea temperatures, rising sea levels and seriously high speed winds.

I don't want to tell you what to believe, but there are significant reasons for accepting the trends. It's up to you whether you decide to accept the notion, based on the evidence. I'd prefer it though if people didn't deny the evidence.

A very long while ago there was no ice anywhere, and the world was presumably hotter than it is now, but there were no people around then AFAIK.

Re the protests, climbing onto tube trains in rush hour is just plain stupid.

Im sue we have had some influence on it, but not all of it. We should do what we can, but it really needs every country on board or it wont work. Trouble is most of the big boys aint interested.

Well quite. China is opening coal fired electricity plants on a monthly basis, and their emissions are rising faster than the entire developed world is reducing them. Asking the Chinese to stop what they regard as legitimate development is a fruitless exercise.

Personally I think by going for the climate argument the environmentalists have got it all wrong. While pretty much everyone can agree that the world is warming, there is no agreement on the extent to which humans are causing it vs other more cyclical factors, or the extent to which humans might be able to halt it or reverse it.

By contrast sustainability is something most people can get on board with - we are consuming planetary resources at a grossly unsustainable rate. Likewise pollution and environental degradation/habitat destruction. But these are things that we can more readily do something about.

Conflating all these issue in a giant emotional stew while shouting WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE helps no-one, except perhaps extreme Marxists bent on destroying capitalism.

The fundamental problem is too many humans.

    End of.

But virtually no one wants to talk about it.

People think they have the right to have children. We need to find a way to stop that on a global scale.

The genetic bioweapons that all the major powers strenuously deny having any interest in, but are all secretly and frantically working on should sort all that out!

It's the ultimate weapon. Winner wins all!
