No, I don’t post on them, or read them - I honestly can’t imagine why anyone would be interested in doing either unless it is just to raise their post count, or they suffer from some kind of posting compulsion. Whatever the reason, surely the forum doesn’t need three, near identical, threads?

Five pounds and sixty-three new pence. Approximately and as of today's date. It may decline in the future due to uncertainty caused by Brexit.

Anyone who cheats on these threads by using hyphens to sneak more than one, two or three words into a post should be banned from the forum.

That's a point. I wonder if adding 'Four Words Daily' would provide more scope for people to express themselves?
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

"Need" is of course subjective, Mark. The fact is, however, as long as people continue posting on them, they'll form a purpose/need, and so will continue to exist - and as soon as they don't. they won't. It's that simple

Every thread here has a finite lifespan, not just the various 'words' threads, and unless there's a very good reason, it's not up to us to interfere in their future or otherwise.

VAT exempt as they count as books. Or children's clothing. I forget which.
