Don't think much of the chips, though (a bit dried up). Yours or Roy's look far better! If it were me, I'd be ordering a single fish and making the chips myself.

Haddock makes all the difference for me, and a much better fish supper. It's thinner than cod, so not as stodgy/filling to eat, and because it's not as 'fleshy', promotes a crispier batter - for me all win-wins
Sadly though, down here you've got about as much chance of finding Lord Lucan riding Shergar, than a chippy that sells haddock!
Those chips look like reheats to me though, not cooked fresh, or were made with the wrong potatoes. When we get fish & chips, we only use places where everything is freshly cooked to order, with nothing left hanging around. You have to wait a little bit, but it's worth it.

yeah chips were i think reheated. not much tho. fish was good but batter wasnt particularly crispy; maybe due to steam in transit.

Is “Rock Eel” a thing anywhere else other than Suffolk? Norfolk has Rock Salmon, which is dogfish I think, but it’s not the same, as both are on some Suffolk menus. Rock Eel must be a, ahem, eel, as it has a single large bone (spine) through the middle but not much else bone wise. Missus loves it, but I had never heard of it until I came to Suffolk. I’m more of a saveloy or jumbo sausage man myself.Or maybe a Pukka pie, and anything from the chippy has to come with mushy peas...
