Emmmm, Welsh pikelets - apparently, from a French cookbook! Took me a while, but now I've got them light and airy, just stack 'em up and salivate.......

    Hi Mike,

    You're a man of taste!

Yes, both pork was used as well as beef, as it makes the sauce moister - as indeed does a touch of milk. This was basically the recipe used, aside from the addition of pork, which is very similar to my mum's: https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/r...olognese_51842

Oh and yes, it should always be either tagliatelle or pappardelle - NEVER spaghetti!

Pancakes look nice - what did you have them with?

I love making stews or ragus, a fave is guinea fowl/wild mushrooms/madeira wine/cream, but I'll definitely try that ragu recipe, never made a proper one with pork before. usually just eat the pikelets with butter and jam for breakfast - not every day of course!

Sounds great! You must share your recipe for that, as I love guinea fowl, especially with that type of sauce

No worries on the pikelets. If I'm having something like that, I'm probably more of a crêpes kinda guy, my favourite being a classic Crêpes Suzette, or Del also does a superb banana flambé, using pancakes, which are smothered in a gorgeous rum/butter sauce, then served with a dollop of dairy vanilla ice-cream:

Yum - trust me, they're to DIE for!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Yeah, the omission of chips, from the Chipmeister Royal, is something of a shock-er-ooney!

But yes, nice steak. Are those tomatoes cooked, Roy, or raw?
