No problem, mate. The Chianti Classico Riserva (grey label at £7.75) and Trivento Malbec, at £8, I suspect will be the standout reds, along with the Jam Shed Shiraz, so would thoroughly recommend those.

In terms of white, I suspect the standouts will be the Identity Sauvignon Blanc (at £8), Squealing Pig and Lacheteau Sauv Blancs, although the Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio should also be nice (in a different way), and a bit more full-bodied than usual, because of the injection of Chardonnay.

Yes its a very good butcher, which has grown in the last few years, Ive not tried any of their wines yet, I normally drink red and happy to try anything, normally would average £10 per bottle but have a birthday coming up so I have an excuse to splash out. The wife only really drinks Pinot Grigio or. Sav. Blanc.

Okies, you should DEFO give this a go, as the grape variety is superb (normally used to partly make up French claret), but with the warmer Italian climate, it should really be a stonker (perhaps for your birthday celebration):

However, the Cabernet Franc I recommended first should get you 80% of the way there, for considerably less dosh. I guess it just depends how much you want that extra 20% of magic only a top-notch claret can deliver

As for whites, for your good lady:

Don't be put off by the price, as there's a WORLD of difference between Sauv Blancs at this level and those half the price, in terms of a more fruit-forward nature, buttery richness and less stringent acidity.
