Hi Alex,
Very pleasant (also busy, so a bit of a wait for order to be taken. We were chatting/enjoying each others company so not a problem).
Starters - good range, Trout pate looked very good - I had salt and pepper squid from the bar snack menu as a starter, pleasant but not world class (I have been spoilt with sea food in Hong Kong in the past though)
Main - I had roast pork loin (Eldest daughter had beef, which made me envious as the beef looked like it was done to perfection - still pink inside, but not bloody) Good selection of vegetables, incredible Yorkshire puddings (I was very impressed with how they were turning out consistently well risen, not soggy Yorkshires). Roast potatoes were not crunchy/well cooked, so a bit disappointed with them.
I think that any establishment is going to struggle with a "Sunday roast" as we all can make a "better" one.
I wish that I had asked for the gravy in a boat as I prefer to put it on my own plate.
But, all in all, quite acceptable.
I think that when we go back (and I am sure that we will) I will look at the "specials board" - didn't realise until we were leaving that they had Cromer crab on the menu.
Puddings - I had a Panna Cotta with blackberries and shortbread crumbs - very good. Youngest daughter had the chocolate brownie which she rated as one of the best that she has ever had.
Staff were friendly, surroundings clean and good space between tables. Unfortunately I didn't have a beer (Adnams) as I was driving but daughters boyfriends thought it was fine.
Dog was happy (and really well behaved) - lotsof dogs there - we were happy and very reasonable prices (about £200) for the six of us.
As you live nearby, I think it would be a great place to go on a weekday evening and avoid a lot of "outsiders"
