“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

"Bugger off with your camera, we're having a private conversation here" Are you going to get a skateboard for Bess? I've seen one on telly that is very good at skateboarding, though Mrs. P thinks I'm a simpleton for believing it. Prove her wrong Bess!

It's so wonderful seeing all these beautiful furry family members (I hate the term "pets" as they are far more than that). The pain of losing them is immense but we are so lucky to share their lives and love them as much as they love us.
I haven't seen my Mia for several weeks as serious illness crept up on me and I've just had five weeks in hospital and am now being cared for in a nursing home where I'm thankfully recovering and learning to walk again. Mia is currently being fostered by a lovely lady who is treating her like a family member and being allowed all the freedoms she has at home. It's such a comfort to me to know she's safe and being looked after so well although I am missing her a lot.

So true - they are family members.

Sorry to hear about your illness - sooner you are reunited with Mia the better both of you will feel (great therapy).
    Best wishes. Guy.
