Pioneer PL3000 - any clues?

Like (I guess) many folks, we've been using some of this break from work to have a sort out of spare rooms & stuff.

I turned up a forgotten about turntable that was bought years ago as part of a job lot in a local flea market. I only wanted the speakers for my daughter (some old JPW's), but there was also this tt & some other stuff for a fiver.

It works ok, there's a minor (I'm guessing) problem with the plinth.

A quick search on Gurgle yields very little.
Before I decide on its fate, does anyone know anything about these?

The best thing about the clear-up was that I turned up a box with my AT electronic stylus cleaner in it (after 5 years of making do with other methods since the move to this house!!)

It's from what was called the Pioneer Mini System, from 1979-80: 'The Pioneer Mini represents a new size standard for Hi-Fi'. I have a PDF from the 79-80 Pioneer Range brochure. See link. Sadly, history hasn't been too kind to these machines and the whole system of TT, tuner, tape, etc goes for well less than £100...

That one was manufactured in June 1980

Before you despatch it for good, it might be worth offering it up for P&P on the Private Exhibitions forum. Someone with a friend in need might be able to give it a home. If it makes music, it seems a shame to dump it!

No, I had a bit of a play about with it & did some serious shorting (ahem.....it's still fizzing a bit!!!) when I tried to do something clever with the power supply.

The motor & the platter are OK, that's about it.

I had planned to give it away to a friend ......not now though!!
