Yep you won't feel the benefit. Classic stuff.

Got my winter coat on today, properly cold here. Don't usually need to dig it out until mid-October.

It is dropping; bloody cold last night

Fires been on for the last few days; but just got the 'back to black' stuff for the front ironmongery, so will get that done today and let it dry off before lighting it again tonight

First coal delivery of the season sometime this week and the chimney's getting lined in 2 weeks!

    It'd better bloody snow

You can't beat a proper fire! Wish we had one. My mate has the mother of all woodburners, cost him a couple of grand. Different kind of heat somehow. And it's something to look at when there's nothing on telly.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Amptastic Mini One,Arcam A75 integrated, Celestion 5's, BK XLS-200 DF

    A/V:
LG 55" OLED, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL Storm sub

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

    KICKSTARTER: ENABLING SCAMMERS SINCE 2009

Our house had a coal fire hidden behind a shitty gas fire when we bought it nearly 6 years ago; first thing I did was rip it all out and get a firebox back installed so we could use the coal fire again. We're getting the flue lined for peace of mind etc; but also the feathers between our chimney and next doors have started to degrade; so it makes sense. They've got a gas flue installed; but still...

When it comes to us redecorating in there; however many years away that may be, I'll be getting a wood burner stove fitted; a class black cast iron one, freestanding etc

My folks have a built in one, at 5kw it packs a fair punch when it comes to heat and my pal up in Samlesbury has a few fitted in their house and they kick out some heat too!

    Aye seen this

We only use smokeless formed ovals; seasoned birch logs and hardwood kindling; all with a moisture level over way under 20%

I do not like these muppets that feel they can burn anything on their fire (seen folks using painted wood, freshly chopped wood etc). Idiots!

Ditto, on both counts!! I also can't stand the dry, stuffy (rather oppressive) heat, from a gas or electric fire - gives me a headache....

All the crap they put onto the fire ends up as sticky goo that clogs up the chimney. These people don't bother to have the chimney swept either, so one day they will be shocked to find their fire and chimney sounding like a Saturn 5 rocket taking flight when it decides to catch fire. The next shock comes when the insurance won't pay up when the house burns down.

    Precisely!

But it's all our faults for being brainwashed into modernising and, erm, supposedly 'improving' our homes, ripping out/blocking off our old coal fires in the process, and replacing them with vastly inferior gas and electric ones (central heating is a good thing, though), simply to keep up with trends!!

Remember what I said about being a free-thinker, versus a sheep?
