Default FS: Ortofon SPU #1 spherical

Selling a brand new, unused SPU #1 spherical - I bought one of these from Deco Audio before Christmas, but from day 1 it rode a bit low and the suspension collapsed after a few weeks. It went back for inspection, was replaced by Ortofon and it arrived with me earlier this week. I have inspected it and the suspension sits identical to my SPU Royal N at the same height and angle so I'm assuming this one is fine. It has not been used or run in.

It's actually a lovely thing and just as well made as the high-end ones I've like like the SPU Gold and Silver Meister. Only significant difference to the SPU G at double the price is a bonded stylus (which having owned both, I don't think you can hear). Both are spherical (the GE is the elliptical)

    I did a write-up on the original:

Henley, the distributor, have no more stock of these in the UK, there are a couple still left in the country (at Deco and Audio Affair) the old price but the new ones are Euro 545 which is more like £490 and I'm told a price rise is imminent.

Anyway I'm looking for at £385 including RMSD. Since it went back to Ortofon I've picked up an Ikeda 9C and an Ortofon SL15e, and I probably have too many cartridges.

    Hi Tom,

    Looks nice!

Any chance of a few more pics, this time with the cartridge fitted to your arm, and taken from different angles, showing how the suspension is behaving now, in respect of how the stylus is currently sitting when playing a record?

I'm sure everything's fine, but it might give potential buyers extra confidence in knowing that 'all is well', as it were, in respect of the recent repair/and or replacement item

This wasn't a repair it was a full replacement with a new cartridge and I haven't played it - I assumed that the buyer would want to have it unused. If I have someone seriously interested who wants me to do this before concluding a deal I will spin it up for a couple of sides, but until then I'm leaving it as-is.

The stylus looks exactly as it should, and as as my Royal N looks - I noticed right away that it was different last time and indeed mentioned that in my review here, two weeks before the suspension collapsed.

I'm pretty sure the original was just a rogue example, I would think the chances of another duff one is pretty low. Ortofon's quality control in general is excellent.
