Nice one. For me, after using the freshest ingredients you can get hold of, *that* is what a salad is all about!
Even if you're not making vinaigrette, some nice olive oil and white wine vinegar, with a touch or rock salt and freshly ground black pepper, all mixed through so all the leaves are coated, hits the spot nicely.
Yet so often, here in the UK, even in some decent restaurants, the 'side salad' is either an afterthought, and consists of nothing more exciting than bog-standard lettuce, cucumber and tomato, and if you're VERY lucky, some red onion - but only served dry, with hee-haw dressing on it.
WTF is that about?For me, it makes it virtually inedible! And, if they're trying to be 'exotic', you'll get it smothered instead with balsamic vinegar!!
There's just no understanding or finesse. In my experience, that only changes in the very best 'British style' restaurants, or if you dine in a European one. Greek salads, for me, in that respect, can be among the best

The nearest I came to fresh salad was when doing the Bear Grylls thing but I was literally starving to death ! ( they didn’t plant any pigs or crocodiles then )

The only thing I'd *really* miss is chicken. Other than that, I could quite happily turn veggie, especially being married to a vegeterian who really knows how to make superb veggie food!
And I love all forms of rice and pasta, so that would bulk things out if necessary

A bit the same. Chicken I love and eat a lot but red meat not so often now. Occasionally minced in some form. Pork too I like and an occasional leg of lamb if flush. Only cut of beef I have now really is brisketLol... See I'm not really a big meat person, and we all eat WAY too much of it anyway, to be healthy!
