Looks like it could be time to stock up on Islay malts (either for your own consumption or as an investment).

Article in today's Times, that states "NatureScot" - Scotland's environment protection agency (Cop26 environment conference may influence this?) has requested "urgent" discussions with Diageo about the use of peat.

I was surprised to find that some distilleries already use artificial peat flavourings (charred wood), so get the real stuff while you can

Thumbs up More BARGAIN slurps from Lidl...

A lovely Burgundy (Pinot Noir): https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/the-french-...ot-noir/p44203

Can't find this one on the Lidl site, but it's a superb Chablis for a silly-cheap price of £8.99 https://www.vivino.com/GB/en/lidl-ch...9a69/w/6472805

A stonking, top-notch Côtes du Rhône Vinsobres (the latter indicates higher than usual quality): https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/the-french-...nsobres/p44209

You could easily pay £15 a bottle for that in a 'fancy' wine shop!

Very nice quality white Côtes du Rhône: https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/the-french-...jaillet/p44218

A beautiful full-bodied, fruity white from the Savoie region of France: https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/the-french-...e-blanc/p44214

A very glugable regional French red table wine, smooth and fruity, for under a fiver(!): https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/the-french-...-rouge/p44201: https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/the-french-...n-rouge/p44201

And lastly, I really don't know how they do this (and admittedly I haven't tried it yet, review to follow), a Haut-Médoc, for wait for it... £6.99!!! https://www.lidl.co.uk/p/the-french-...laurent/p44211

Not just a standard Médoc, but a HAUT- Médoc! If it's any good, you'd normally expect to pay around £20 a bottle for such, or much more. Plus it's also won a gold medal in an international wine challenge in 2020! Seems too good to be true, so I'll feedback on it later!

Of course, none of them will be available in Scottish branches lol, eh Robin?

Lol - would be interesting to see how many you (or anyone else up there) could find!

We've just had a spanking new Lidl open in Wrexham, 2 mins by car from our front door: https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/19...ew-lidl-store/

It's fabulous - big, airy and spacious (especially the aisles), extremely well-stocked with all sorts of goodies, and with a great bakery!

Not a bad wee place, Wrexham, eh mate?
