    Heist, 2001...

Gene Hackman mentioned in several interviews that he found shooting the film difficult and somewhat uncomfortable because he was so much older than everyone involved. He therefore kept much to himself, and in the end managed to draw on that feeling of being an outsider in the group for his portrayal.

I wonder how much he cut from 'Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot' ?

It's 87 minutes so you have to think the rough cut was ten hours, maybe twenty?

Why would he be so fussy about 'First Blood' but go on to make that embarrassing pile of crap? Makes no sense.

i guess his career was still in making with first blood, where he had also done 2 rocky films.

but the reason he took this pile on was apparently this which ive heard several times..

Sylvester Stallone famously signed on to the film based solely on Arnold Schwarzenegger claiming that he was interested in the lead. In October 2017, Schwarzenegger confirmed the rumor that, knowing the script was "really bad", he had publicly faked interest in starring for producers to lure Stallone.

they at that time had some less than friendly rivalry..lol

ps, they are now very good friends..

    The Wild Bunch, 1969..

Robert Ryan's incessant complaints about not receiving top billing so annoyed director Sam Peckinpah that he decided to "punish" Ryan. In the opening credits, after freezing the screen on closeups of William Holden's and Ernest Borgnine's faces while listing them, Peckinpah froze the scene on several horses' rear ends as Ryan was listed.

In an interview, Ben Johnson said that the Mexican women who "frolicked" with him and Warren Oates in the huge wine vats weren't actresses but prostitutes from a nearby brothel, who were hired by Sam Peckinpah so he could tell people that Warner Bros. paid for hookers for his cast.

Sam Peckinpah stated that one of his goals for this movie was to give the audience "some idea of what it is to be gunned down". A memorable incident occurred, to that end, as Peckinpah's crew were consulting him on the "gunfire" effects to be used in the film. Not satisfied with the results from the squibs his crew had brought for him, Peckinpah became exasperated; he finally hollered: "That's not what I want! That's not what I want!" He then grabbed a real revolver and fired it into a nearby wall. The gun empty, Peckinpah barked at his stunned crew: "THAT'S the effect I want!!" He also had the gunfire sound effects changed for the film. Before, all gunshots in Warner Brothers movies sounded identical, regardless of the type of weapon being fired. Peckinpah insisted on each different type of firearm having its own specific sound effect when fired.

    School for Scoundrels, 1960...

In this film in 1960, Ms Scott was 22 years old, while Ian Carmichael was 40 and Terry Thomas was already 49! A slightly scandalous age difference that was important at the time in real life, but totally ignored for the film industry.

The used car salesmen Dunstan and Dudley (
Dennis Price and Peter Jones) were based on characters from the BBC radio comedy series "In All Directions" broadcast during the 1950s. The radio characters were known as Morry and Dud and were played by Peter Ustinov and Peter Jones who also wrote the scripts together with scriptwriters Frank Muir and Denis Norden. Their catch phrase "run for it!" was reprised in the film

Just watched the full version of Lawrence of Arabia

The 37 minutes cut from the cinema release, were discovered and have now been reinstated; making the run time 217 minutes (3 hours 37 mins) long.

I'm a great fan of David Lean's cinema epics, but this one is a hard slog.
