Default Your Most Uplifting Tracks... Ever!

Been a while/years since I did one of these, (they usually revolve around obscure instruments, so count your blessings! ) but this time I'm after your favourite uplifting tracks. Tracks that no matter how much of a grumpy barsteward you are, or if you are in a really foul mood you play and can't help but smile, if even only to yourself...

No limits on how many you want to suggest, I'm sure we've all got loads of songs we know and love, but I'll kick off with just one - Queen and Don't Stop Me Now - impossible not to smile after playing that, right? Come on, give me your happy and I'll put them into a killer playlist!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

That is a top shout - what a track, and Trevor Horn is a genius!

I see what you mean about uplifting - I guess anything that makes you smile. Pretty much everything on the Kevin and Perry Go Large soundtrack would work for either of your scenarios!

Trevor Horn was a genius.. Grace Jones, Frankie goes To Hollywood, Seal, Art of Noise, YES etc etc

A very underrated band was The Art of Noise.

Yeah a genius alright - took a song (Slave To The Rhythm) and made a whole album of its remixes. I still play it regularly, and I really must get me a newer less worn-out copy
