While I am not someone who favours missionaries, its hardly a holiday. Among people who have nothing, not even running water, working hard to help them on a practical level.

My neighbour, who passed away two years past, was a tank commander in World War II. He was at El Alamein, Egypt and was the only survivor of his unit. He often talked of his experiences and it was horrific to hear how brave men died in horrible ways. Once when I was talking to him the subject of God arose. He said that on many occasions he would pray to God for help.

Obviously in his case it worked because he lived to the ripe old age of 98. I do find that people who diss the notion of religion to be short-sighted and mean in their piss-taking and I personally find it sad that they feel the need to descend into jokes made in very poor taste.

Sleep well and remember that there are many ''gods''.

I used to print a quarterly magazine for the Jesuits doing missionary work, called not surprisingly, Jesuit Missions. Some of the "nice sunny" places they were sent to looked truly awful, disease, drought and famine commonplace. I wouldn't swap places with them

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

Yep that's true we had them in Liverpool. Must have been the worst posting they could end up with.

Here is a quick test, are you worshiping the wrong person

Here are 2 names from the story book known as the Bible,

    1. God
    2. The Angel Lucifer

Which one is good and which one is evil

What 'The Bible' is, is much misunderstood both by atheists and the religious.
