What happened to, was it 'Audio Addicts', run by Ollie (Bigman80), and which I believe was owned by Andrew? Is this new place just a rehashed version of that? The layout looks identical

I don't look much at other forums (simply don't have the time), so some 'history' is required here.

I think Ollie is still running Audio Addcits. I'm not entirely sure though, I left Audio Addicts a few months ago.

Andrew started Hifi Hangout a few days ago. Only joined yesterday.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Have Andrew and Ollie split up then?

Good luck to Andrew in his new venture, but I'm afraid the reality is that there are already WAY too many forums and not enough folk to actively populate them, and so keep them going in the long term - and in that respect I mean like pfm, Wigwam and here, which have all been going for many, many years.

Plus the folks there are, who are into hi-fi sufficiently enough to want to post on forums about it, are currently members of all the existing ones, subsequently diluting the potential audience even further!

Anyway, as I said, good luck with it

Whilst it might be refreshing to have a forum dedicated solely to 'Hifi', free from threads on cars, coffee, watches, holiday snaps etc., to eschew posts on DIY and "bodges" is rather akin to throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Where is all the fun to be had with chopping and changing interconnects or tube rolling?

We will have to see how the forum develops - but at the moment it looks quite dull and uninteresting.

Might take off as after the plague, if there is an after, money may be tight, so diy might take off again like olden times when men were men and sheep were afraid

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Yes,it's wording is to exclude , rather than include..... not a good foundation, like those contributing MUST meet a certain standard... not good at all, to see anyone excluded,
Forums using those tactics, will just fade away.

Some people will accept the site at face value. Or simply don't join, and walk away.

Oh dear, and indeed so. I didn't even get as far as reading the site's 'official description'.... Why not just create a blog, and allow comments on topics from registered users? For me, that would be a much more viable concept.
