No, I've not heard a DDDAC, I'll keep an eye out. Thanks.

I'm playing TIDAL through the Metrum, and TIDAL's a bit bright ime - so there's probably some good synergy going on there!

Really impressive when you first hear it though as it has none of that typical digital hardness.

Have you heard a DDDAC because they do all the things that the Metrum can do and more. The latest mods and tricked out PSUs for the DDDAC mean that to my ears it competes and sounds better than the very best DACs out there at the moment.
David Coe (AD Audio) makes a fantastic highly tricked out DDDAC and it is very wonderful.
He combines it with his latest PSU and a valve output stage.

Funnily enough, so have I. I had moved to an exotic, home made, concoction but I too have gone back to the Atratus 3. The biggest problem with this cable was the price - if it had been £500 to 1K people would have taken it a lot more seriously. Epiphany Acoustics must have bough a real of the stuff cheap because a friend and I did look at importing some but the cost was just prohibitive and it would have ended up being a £500 interconnect if it had the same plugs fitted.

Regarding the DNM, well I’m still surprised as I know I’m not alone in having a strongly negative view of the speaker cable. Perhaps you are using short runs and lower listening levels?

I might like it but I'd just think it was inflexible.

I remember Colloms going on about it but wasn't it a different one? Metrum Octave, no? Not this Mini what's it?

This is an older picture of my DAC - it is rather large due to a rather large choke psu and is probably bigger than most power amps.

    I'm using 2m runs.

I'm sure we are listening to very different music with very different demands and requirements.
Transparency and detail, soundstaging and image focus, micro dynamics not macro dynamics, are the name of the game for me.

I don’t know about our sonic priorities being all that different - they were similar enough when I recommended the Atratus to you. However, length makes a big difference with very thin cables like the DNM and 2 metres is significantly less than the 5 metres I use.

Never tried DNM. But I'd need 7.5m

Mmm, no - it really was my itty bitty mini DAC that MC was raving about ....
