A quality classic, but unfortunately way too peaty for me. I tend to prefer Speyside malts, matured in sherry casks.

A really nice peaty whisky, if that’s a taste you enjoy.

Yeah I tasted that last Friday. They had two Definitions for tasting.

But the B&B was down to £10.99 so got some more. Addict

I'll pick that up on next visit for sure - think I have a Primitivo still to come ...

Many years ago I used to go to a fabulous Lebanese restaurant in Bayswater and always went for Chateau Kefraya which wasn't as eye-wateringly expensive as Musar at restaurant mark-ups. Always a pleasure to drink, it's totally different to the bruising Musar, being more elegant and subtle ...

I do now, used to be pretty much a Speyside boy and didn't enjoy anything from Islay, not for many, many years of enjoying whisky. But I kept going back as I'm stubborn like that. Anyhoots, was in Ronnie Scott's recently for the late show and thought 'what the heck' and ordered an Ardbeg Ten - bam, it was a light-bulb moment for me. Quite literally had a mouth and brain taste orgasm, now I can't get enough of Islay whiskies. Not sure what happened really, guess my palate just changed/developed?

Funny thing, when I bought the dram the barman said to me "I can pour straight from the bottle or measure it, up to you?" I said just pour it . . . I got at least a triple, which at 10 quid a shot in there was a deal and a half. He got a tip

There are several great Malts from Islay, although Ardbeg is probably my least favourite but we all have different tastes.

Hmmm, I wish I was that lucky, unfortunately I seem to like them all, which is killing my wallet! The only distillery missing from my cabinet at the moment is Kilchoman.
