the was an article recently that they thought sotland was approaching herd. we seem to have been ahead of uk this last surge; probably due to schools and different hols etc plus we still use masks. once english schools get most infected/vaxinated it will come down.
deaths will increase and stay high for a while tho

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

if i had to go into hospital i may not get out as ive no-one to look after me... so i'll be damned if im going in
Incompetence in staffing is far too simplistic, it goes much further.

As I’ve said before, the Government both national and NHS are guilty of not seeing the solution, but not recognising the problem whether purposefully or sheer stupidity!

I’m repeating myself again......if you want to protect the NHS you concentrate on effective treatment so people don’t get hospitalised, did they do this no, they sent alleged cases home to get worse or die!

The case for lessened infection capability of “jabbed” people is not proven, and the way masks are utilised in reality is just plain stupid. Does every scientist walk round not using their eyes? Where’s the MSM on how to wear a mask to the WHO’s conditions for effective interruption of airborne infection? The Government’s outline how to make a mask is laughable!

Kin hell people, just think FFS!

I don't really think about it to be honest. If it wasn't for this thread and that I see the occasional person 'wearing' a mask I'd probably have forgotten that it's still going on.

Sorry to pluck this bit out of the post, but it got me wondering...

If the vaccines can either guard against infection, or at least mitigate the severity of such, is it possible that many of those 'double jabbed' (by being largely asymptomatic) could be unknowingly infecting others? (assuming the vaccinated may still be able to pass it on).

If so, folks who thought that they didn't need the jab as the great majority who had it will help to bring about the end of the pandemic may be in for an awakening this winter.

So imo the case for being vaccinated is not about protecting others, but more about self-protection. Like the wearing of seat belts and crash helmets.

I think that’s, perhaps, the right attitude Martin, I just can’t do it.

I can see and understand this, but on the other hand, the long term effects of vaccination after vaccination are definitely unknown. So, in the end the vaccinated may be in for an awakening long term.

Assuming the vaccine is self protection, with an unknown lifespan, then an intravenous vaccine drip would be appropriate apparel.

I'd be ok with that if they came in a range of attractive colours

True, we don't know the long-term effects of multiple vaccinations, what we do know is the short term effect of Covid for many

Before I respond properly, could you clarify what you mean by "an awakening"? I'm pretty sure I know what you're getting at, but just want to be sure.

As for the rest, the vaccinated can indeed still transmit the virus. Vaccination only reduces transmission by (a claimed, but not proven) 50%, so that still leaves plenty of scope for the vaccinated to pass it on!

Absolutely so, and has always been the case, which is also why the introduction of 'vaccine passports' is much more about coercion and government control, than protecting others!

    Exclamation "Many" vs. "Most"...

Indeed, but not forgetting of course that the effect for most (i.e. the non-elderly without any serious underlying conditions), is mild, flu-like symptoms at worst, otherwise we'd have had a MUCH more serious situation on our hands.

"Most" equaling the overwhelming majority of the population. Whilst not wishing to underplay the seriousness of the virus for those most at risk from becoming seriously ill or dying from it, we must not lose sight of that fact.
