Thanks for saying that Neil. I do enjoy listening to them and think that some of them are very good. What I was trying to suggest is that whilst I'm not excrutiatingly embarrassed by these titles, I don't think that any of them would have much creditability amongst record collectors.

I'm sure I do have some material (recorded on cassette) that I would prefer to keep quiet about (mostly ephemeral '80s pop: Altered Images, Bow Wow Wow, Marmalade etc.), but I rarely play cassettes these days.

It was never my intention to be judgemental or critical of other peoples submissions, just that everyone I know has his or her own little pile of discs that they enjoy, despite being a bit 'naff'. After all the purpose of these records is to give you pleasure and that of course is highly personal. If listening to say the 'Birdy Song' reminds you of a particularly memorable holiday then there is nothing wrong with that.

    Regards
    Barry

    One more to the collection:

Donovan, 'Gift from a Flower to a Garden'. The title says it all, but I do think that Donovan has the most amazing diction and articulation (or that a tautology?).

ahh I have a few more obscure AOR ones
    Briklyn Same
    Jim Foster Power lines
Stan Bush and Barrage Not that obscure used in the first transformers film so imediate loss of street credit but still sometimes like it. If you ever watched Boogie Nights they do a really funny version of the Touch from the album
Loves anything from Pain of Salvation to Jeff Buckley to Django to Sarasate to Surinder Sandhu to Shawn Lane to Nick Drake to Rush to Beth Hart to Kate Bush to Rodrigo Y Gabriela to The Hellecasters to Dark Sanctury to Ben Harper to Karicus to Dream Theater to Zero Hour to Al DiMeola to Larry Carlton to Derek Trucks to Govt Mule to?

the labyrinth soundtrack! I always feel a bit guilty listening to it...

There are plenty more things in there that many would scoff at, but I heartily stand up for Dire Straits, Status Quo, Marilyn Manson, Iron Maiden and the like

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit! (a good example the sort of syntax that gets Lynn Truss all trussed up)

Now't wrong with a bit of knees up down the pub.

Perhaps the litmus test is 'would you bring it to a bake-off' First impressions and all that

    Mostly singles, in my case:

I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper

Theme to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

    Muppet Music Hall

I got shot of the Elton John albums some years back.
